i dont think it will be mate, i think that only the sr's etc. had the close ratio boxes, yours is probably an F10W box - wide ratio.
Yeah as dan said i think only the SRs on had a close ratio box.

how can i tell what gearbox i've got?
It should be stamped on the gearbox somewhere.
All 1.3's, SR or not, have F10W. Some 1.4 SR have F13C. Mine supposedly came from a Corsa SX. Not sure bout that.
Someone needs to doa sticky about gearboxes and where to read the code. It's hard to find without a pic.
the sticky would be a good idea as there is a fair few questions on them...

this should help.
i found this the other day at
http://www.nova-land.com/ it was in the guides section
its good stuff so hope it helps
i'm sure that reading thru the haynes manual i saw that some cars had an f10CR , cos the 1.4 SR is an F13 i think.
You should beable to kinda guess, my 1.2 does about 80mph at 6500rpm in 3rd gear (timing is out so it should be a bit higher) if it's similar to this then it's probably a W.

is an f10cr the best gearbox for a 1.4 T40 setup

final drive ratio's will affect what your saying about 6500rpm at 85.
You can't really compare unless u know ur f/d, or work it out.
