cheers mate, needs a lot of work doing to it though. I plan to have new front wings, rear arches, and sills pretty soon so that it survives the coming winter..

dan! why did you put the mesh behind the grill? and can you take some pics of the gill with the mesh so i can see it. from what i can see it looks really good

ive taken it out now mate - thought i would see what it looked like without it for a while - with the standard bars going across the grill it wasnt that noticeable but was a nice touch, and i might add it back in this weekend.

ok thanx for that. why do you see that not many people mod 5 doors?

its because they are deemed as less good looking than the 3-doors, and i agree to a certain extent - i think its the box style arches that make a nova, and 5-doors dont have these.
Also they are better looking if they dont have the rear doors, and it also means that you can have a stripped out and caged rear which would look pretty odd in a 5-door.
Anyway, everyone has their own ideas and you should just do what you like because its your car...

so are you getting rid of urs?
i think a cage in a stripped out 5 door would look great
mk1 or mk2 :D mine started as a 1 and is now a 2 lol see my features for the difference it made

I was looking to get rid of mine about a month ago, i wanted to get a 1.6 16v escort and do it up like a cossie, but after getting mine tuned up at a garage i decided to keep mine and just carry on modding it and keeping it mint maybe to sell around winter time or take it off the road and do an engine conversion...
Not too sure about a stripped rear in a 5-door, one of my mates said that i should do it as well, but i dont like the idea of the rear doors opening to nothing, its kind of pointless really.

well if u going to sell it cheap which i think not then i will buy it
Dan you car is looking sound, especially for a five. People don't go for five doors mostly because of the arches, the box style ones look miles better.
Has your car had a respray dan, and how much has it cost you to do(getting bumpers sprayed etc), looking in terms of cost for when i swap over from my astra to a nova.
One thing mate, make sure you keep it MK1.
Cheers mate.
i think mk1 is the way forward, looks retro just like the nova, mk2-ing a nova just makes it look slightly more modern, but in a nova theres not much point cus of their overall shape
dan your 5dr is legendary, really great effort...

wow cheers guys, never got responses like this before, most people usually laugh and call it crap.....
I had a passenger in a white van overtake me doing about 60 in a 30 limit today, slow right down in front of me, lean out of his window and yell tosser and stick his fingers up at me for a few miles...i think it was because of the nova and not my driving.......thats the usual reaction to my car anyway.
It is the original paint by the way...Opel Lazer Blue, and in my opinion the best original colour of any nova.
the colour is nice dan
i always thought it was resprayed because i had never seen that colour on a nova
that colour is really nice it goes with the anthracite really well...

yeh i think thats what makes the car look good overall, because there is another 5-door nova down the road from me in a burgundy colour with the GTE kit in black and it just doesnt look as good, its all down to the colour at the end of the day.

i want to be different. well just a bit there are too many 3 doors ill mod a 5 door hopefully
why not try a 5door saloon :o , now that would be different!!! wouldnt mind a 2dr saloon though...
i wouldn't mind a 2 door saloon
the other saloon is just poinless
eurostyle 2dr saloon, slammed over 13x9 wheels, was a really nice one in tv about a year ago...
smitty5door
06-08-04, 10:46 PM
that was more or less what you wanted to do wasnt it mike?
smitty5door
06-08-04, 10:47 PM
and i am really starting to like the 5 door it can look sweet
yeah smitt i am planning a old skool nova and it might be a 2 door saloon
i want to build a old skool nova 3dr first then buy a saloon, saloons could look really nice, theres no feature place for saloons i think there should be...
yeah but the 4 door saloon is just plain ugly
i like to think the 2 door saloon is more if a coupe 8)
yep im getting a nova coupe   , id never get a 4dr saloon, although i saw a belgian 1 that was strangely attractive :?
see its a coupe
its not a proper saloon
As already said Dan your car is sound, one of the nicest five doors i have ever seen.
The bodywork looks mint, the paint looks like new, and its not a new car, or even a newer nova, its the original style.
Keep it mint.

u seem like u really put down your car alot y is that? i think it is sweet as
 thats becuase of some of the hassle ive had with it in the past, and believe me it isn't so sweet in the flesh. Behind the front bumper the driver side wing has rusted thorugh so thats gotta be replaced, also the rear panel behine the rear bumper has got 2 holes in it so that needs welding, and the driver side sill needs welding as well.
I think it mainly looks so good because of the colour, most other colours and it wouldnt look half as good.
