Well am wondering how the truvelo camera's (or what ever there called) the infered ones, work. As i drove past one doing 78 the other day in a 70 zone. Would this mean a fine as i know gatso's don't trigger unless you do a few miles over.
So do you think i might get away with it? as i have no idea as the don't flash or any thing. I like my clean license
Unfortunately mate i think they just capture your number plate and send you a fine. I don't think they flash.
to be honest mate i think you might have been caught there...although you may get away with it cus its not to much over...
truvelos work by sensors in the road mate, use an infa red lens, and they dont flash, think this is right, plz correct me if im wrong

my mates dad whose a fire engine driver says they do flash.
thats why they have the red lense to stop it blinding you, they have some round here facing the 'normal' way and they dont have lense covers on
i didnt think they flashed tbh but after readin steveo's post not to sure
dont think they flash mate
Flash/no flash, there is no relevance really, cos it's unlikeky you'll get done for an "INDICATED" 78 mph as your speedo is generally 10% under-reading anyway and this tolerance is built into most police-force's camera initiative
Also Biggerwheels/lower profile tyres can affect your speedo reading also...

if you do go to court dont tell them the quote above or they will bring out yet another law not allowing us to do it

a meisly 7 mph, its only meisly cos its in a 70 zone, 7mph doesnt seem that meisly in a 30.
but cameras are normally set around the speed plus 10% then +1 or 2 mph
i dont think that you will get done for the meisily 7 mph
Cameras don't care if it's 7 or 70mph over the limit, it's still speeding and I expect you'll be on for a fine / points.
theres a little village near me called belton and they have these mobile speed cameras up they caught r lasses boss doing 31 in a 30 and they did her :!:
The cameras in a 30mph limit area are notoriously harsh.
Take a leaf out of my book. Never speed in a residential 30mph/40mph limit that you are not familiar with unless it's on a carriageway and your licence should stay clean, because that is where 90% of the cameras are. Observe any motorway maintenance speed limits accurately, as this is where most of the rest of the speed cameras are.
If your speed does creep up , and if you are stopped by the police, most traffic/non traffic coppers use in "informal" and "unofficial" criteria to decide whether to give you a produce/fine/points. This is commonly known as "THE ATTITUDE TEST" Follow these rules and you are far more likely to get away with it.
When pulled, pull over and turn off your stereo and your ignition, get out of the car and wait for the copper on the kerb. You are leaving your car and any passengers behind and speaking to the copper on his own level. They like this because you are obviously not going to drive away, and you are not going to be influenced by your mates in the car, or feel bad about "losing face" to the cop in front of your peers. Lots of passengers give cops a bit of shit, and get their mate who is driving a definite pointer/fine.
Take off sunglasses/baseball cap/hood/whatever cos they ALL make you look likr a TWOC'ER and will influence the way the cop sees you. Smile gently but do not grin like a shit-eater.
If you have ANY documents with you, offer them to him, and tell him you have ID with you if you have no documents relating to your car. A credit card/bank card/statement (if you have no driving documents) paints a picture that you are an adult, and he is more likely to treat you like one. This also relaxes the cop because he will probably have checked your name on the PNC (police national computer, a database of all drivers/vehicles/insurance/mot's/tax) so will know your name and address and when you confirm it with ID he knows that a high-speed chase and danger to himself and others is VERY unlikely.
Listen to what the copper may say. Taking 3 minutes of patronising shit may save you from taking the bus. If there is a genuine mitigating circumstance (like your missus is pegnant and you are rushing home, for example) DO NOT USE IT YET!
Apologise if you are in the wrong. Don't kiss his arse, but be pleasant because most traffic cops are enthusiasts just like u and me. Now use your excuse if you have one, or just say "I should know better really" and ALWAYS tell him that you are proud of your clean licence AND YOU WILL BE MORE CAREFUL IN FUTURE.
(IF APPLICABLE! REMEMBER HE WILL ALWAYS KNOW IF YOU HAVE LOADS OF POINTS. IF THIS IS YOU, YER ALREADY FUCKED!DON'T SAY YOU HAVE A CLEAN LICENCE IF YOU HAVE MORE POINTS THAN ARSENAL!)
I have seen numerous cautions and producers when caught as a driver and a passenger being "over exhuberant" on 40/50MPH/national speed limit/dual carriageways/motorways but have always got away with it via the "attitude test" I have had a clean licence since 1994. I got dione before that by a mobile speed trap. The printout said 47mph in a 30.
You can't negotiate with a camera!
some very good points rick will remember them if pulled altho
when i was pulled doin the same speed as u in a 30 i didnt give the copper any attiude

Is that the one near sandtoft mate? Of so the coppers are always there on a friday morning waiting for the pikeys coming out o fhte auction in smashed up cars with no tax, mot etc
yeah it is mate didnt know about that tho
i got done by a speed camera on my way to cornwall in july, 48 in a 40 on m/way roadworks apparently. didnt see a flash so obviously wasnt a gatso, dont understand it though because the girlfriends mum was driving right infront of me and she didnt get done. oh well shit happens.
ANd when i got pulled the first time i pulled up turned everything off, left the car to go towards the police, leaving the passengers but when i went in the boot to get my paperwork they all thought i was going for a sawn-off or something and two of them just dragged me away from the car! Can see where they were coming from though, i might have gone loco and spaltted their brains everywhere! I've learnt to wait until they ASK for ID and paperwork!
Epo
I got done by a mobile speed trap, no coppers just a camera and some civilians running it. I didn't even know they got me for weeks.....
Don't they have 2 weeks from the time of speeding to produce and send a ticket to you?
They have 12 weeks to NIP. That is Notice of Intention to Prosecute. If the copper at roadside tells you u are getting done, and issues u a ticket, that is NIP. If you get a ticket/fixed penalty in the post, that's the same. They can send u a NIP without a ticket in the post, warning you that they are carrying out further investigations and as long as they have issued an NIP, they can take up to 36 months go actually prosecute you.
Make u sweat for 12 weeks after the camera flashes LOL!
i got done by a copper with a gun
only got 1 more year and the points are off
