After spending three months re-building my engine and gettin it back in the car, am now faced with a massive problem! so need some expert advice!

Everything seams to be connected up fine etc but there is fuel leaking from somewhere and ive no idea where. The fuel is dripping out by the bottom of the fly wheel :o

Yesterday i turned the engine over by hand then a shit load of petrol
poured out!

Have filled the car with oil but the dip stick is reading 0 and it stinks of petrol! I removed the sump plug to check and oil gushed out.

Any ideas where the petrol will be leaking from?

Also the engine will not turn over, the ignition comes on as normal and you can hear the fuel pump kick in then when i turn the key to start all the lights dim out and the starter motor just clicks out but does not spin :o

Have tryed different batteres and starters and even a 12v power pack thingy.

Help will be very appreciated!

Cheers :D

Bad earth for the starter for starters.

Check where your fuel lines go to. Took me a while to find them on my conv.

From what you have wrote there is fuel in the sump, as fuel floats on top of oil the dipstick will read 0 and possibly have broken down the seal on crank where it is then coming out of bell housing maybe? F**k knows how it got there though!! :o

connect the fuel pump to the battery (remove the relay and shove a bit of wire between solid red and the pump feed) so its constantly running and have a good look round the fuel rail

i nipped an injector seal when reassembling my old engine and fuel was pissing out there and running down the back of the engine then dripping off the sump

as for the starter not running it sounds like youve got a dead battery or a knackered starter - the lights dimming out indicates a high load or insufficient charge in the battery to start the engine

how much oil did u put in? there is still about 2-3 litres in the sump when the dipstick shows nothing

Put 3 and a half litres in it, the dip stick was stinkin of petrol. Any way i have loast my patience with it now so towed it down to the local garage and they said they will sort it tomorrow! :D

Cheers for the help anyway fellas 8)
