does anyone remember when max p was good? ok, let me rephrase that, do you remember when it was better than it is now?
I bought the new copy today, and as usually quickly removed the very over the top, pointless plastic cover, and shook the mag over a bin
over a bin? i hear you cry, yep its my fool proof way of not havin to read useless junk about if i scratch i may win something bollox.
inside its worse, theres more pages of ad's than there is cars, (nothin new there), and theyve gone with the idea of putting the cover car feeature....
go on guess.....
on page 218. what the fcuk? page 218? whats it doin there?
theres loads of stuff about it i could grumble about, but ill stop for fear of wasting space and boring you stiff,
but you can all sleep easy tonite knowing ive saved myself ?3.75 a month, to spend on something else.
probably either revs, redline or fast car.
what do you lot think???
:p
Im tall and your small

Revs has just gone over the top of a very steep, slippery slope.
Realistically your choices now are Redline, Fast Car, CCC and I buy a mag called GTI International which just has Frenchies in it, pretty exclusive with an issue every few months or so, but they are going bi-monthly so check it out for something different where the content isn't turd.

Redline is the one to go for i find. i am waiting for Revs to go down hill now that is so close to Max Power But remember Total Vauxhall is here now at last.
What does everyone think of Total Vauxhall by the way?
I was very impressed, especially by the amount of Nova articles, i was expecting loads of Cav/Calibra stuff to be honest, and i didn't really think the Nova would be touched. But nevermind i was wrong again!!!

I'd say Redlinem, but they can be a bit dissapointing at times. Apparently the new total Vauxhall mag is good. Try that?

Yeah total vauxhall is down to earth and well worth the read and the money, max has been and always will be a load o dump, not worth readin unless you own a 1500000 bhp Evo lancer or Skyline. It don't wanna know about nova's and similar cars anymore.

If the bird said "Its the Nova or me", would you miss her?

TV is alright, I found that factually it was a little lacking but content is well written enough, bit more of a story behind the articles instead of the usual bollocks-scenario max blurb.

I remember when Magic Pooer was good....about May 1993....oops, that's the first issue!
Lets have a look (as I've got it).....right, in "Max Motors" there was a "Throbbing Purple Monster" (as they called it!) also known as a Dimma arched 205, the first prohject car (Escort RST), mental Mattig Astra GTE, nice MKI Golf CL, two mint road-legal, race-winning MKII Escort RS2000's !! (4.4 secs to 60!) and two Rover SD1 Vitesses! (one was a twin plenum model too)
There was a "Max Motorsport" section, which had an interview with Richard Burns , a review of the BTCC and an interview with Tim Harvey.
Vicky-Butler-Henderson did the interview with Richard Burns btw....yep, Vicky as in Top-Gear used to work for Max Power back in those days!
In the "Max Technical" section, there was the usual ICE section (fitting a decent stereo in a Manta in this case), a guide on fitting nitrous on to a MKI Golf GTi, the "Power Surgery", an article on "Green Tuning" (how to get a modded car through the MOT emissions test) and a guide in getting 19bhp extra power from a 1300cc MKIII Escort!
There's also loads more of which I can't be bothered to go through, but it's all class stuff along with about 55 pages of ads...a lot less than in recent ones!
Oh, and it was only ?2 AND, I you got a free Baseball Cap.....lol! (just what every aspiring boy-racer needs lol) It was black though, with Max Power in white and red lettering......not the usual boy-racer white cap lol! (some twat nicked my cap!)
What else? Oh....a competition to win an Escort Cosworth!
AND, not a single picture of a naked lass anywhere....didn't need that sort of stuff to attract customers back then....they concentrated on the cars with top quality features and well-written technical articles.
The following one was good too though......how's two R 5 Turbo2's grab ya! One's got the normal mid-mounted turbo 4 with 210bhp, and the other's got a 1650cc fully race-prepped beastie, delivering 350plus bhp :O 0-60 in 4sec too!
AND FINALLY
the best car to have ever been featured in Max......it's a 2.8i V8 Twin Turboed wide-arched MKIV Cortina :D
complete with rusty rear doors and a evo-spoiler made from 3 fence posts lol! It may be a shed, but it's got 280bhp!
