Well, where to begin.........
Basically not a very fruitfull Day again :( although there were some positives :D
4 miles in to the 1st stage My mysterious misfire returned again (Only ever happens on rallies). Carried on throughout 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th stage.
We changed the complete braided fuel line/s, covered new fuel line in heat wrap as well in case it was fuel evaporation, changed coil pack but still same.
After we checked the crank sensor gap the car wouldn't start, but the fault was found to be a dodgey connection in the crank sensor plug which was playing up under vibration when the engine was revving for long periods of time.
Once rectified the problem was finally cured from stage 6 onward, obviously any hope of a good result had gone although we were still 3rd 1600 after 4 stages :o .
We posted the 2nd fastest 1600 times on stages 6 + 7 and she was revving hard/well all the way to 8250 no prob's at all. I actually caught and passed an Escort Cosworth, Sierra Cosworth and a Toyota Celica GT4 on those two stages :o :D :o . Mainly gapping them on braking and unbelievably through the tighter loose sections 8)
However My glory was short lived again   , we snapped the inner CV on the driver side on stage 8. This was going to be the last event for the car on the std small shafts anyway, after the last event I bought Group A shafts and complete hub assemblies. I am going to be sending My diff back to Gripper for it to have the bigger side gears fitted (to enable the shafts to be fitted) in the next week or so.
I think I have too much grip on 15" slicks for the std shafts, both times that I've broken shafts it has been on broken/loose surfaces crossing between tarmac sections. I think both wheels spinning/scrabbling for grip and perhaps one grips and breaks that sides shaft? I have My geometrey checked the day before every event and all was ok so I can only come to that conclusion.
Anyway that's Rallying as they say :D
