The engines are vastly different, different blocks, heads, pistons, exhaust manifolds, intercoolers.....

Loads different.

if you raced one and won, it wasn't a cosworth.

Original big wing sierra cossie was 204BHP, the RS 500 was 217 bhp.

2wd Sapphire cos was 207bhp, 4wd was 220bhp.

Rouse sport 302R was 300bhp (2wd) and the Rouse sport 404R was 300bhp (4wd) (Rouse sport was a limited-edition by Andy Rouse that was available in certain selected showrooms only, and had more power, different (winged) front seats, bigger rear spoiler and sideskirts)

The Escort cossi was 227bhp (T3 version) and the late Escy (T25 turbo)was 220.

The sierra 1600 runs an old design engine (the 1600 Essex i believe) that has it's roots in 1960's escort mk1's. BHP would be about 80....

They aren't that fast, unless modified, which most are.

I was running similar 1/4 mile times to one at North wield with my 1.6.

Breeny has Wasted them up the strip at the Pod.

These days, 200-220bhp isn't anything to shout about.

a seirra 2.0 16v is 130bhp
the 2.0 8v is 120bhp maybe adit less depending on age of car could have carb or multipoint injection.

a seirra Gt is a 2.0 16v and a there is somthing called a 2000e there still seirras but better!! haha

im thinking about getting a seirra in the winter months when nova is off the road.

very easy to obtain big BHP fromt the Cossie lump's thats the main reason i changed from a 2.1 16v Throttle Bodied Nova to a 4*4 Sierra Cossie now running 22 Psi and just over 300bhp

there were 2 xr4i serria's at donnington t'other week, i was quicker than both, what engines do they have

Philsutton
29-07-04, 03:58 PM
they have the V6 i think

-Bruce-
29-07-04, 04:39 PM
yeh the xr4i was a 2.8 colonge v6 with 150bhp and early xr4x4s had same engine. later xr4x4s '89 on had the 2.9 engine which was refined but still had 150bhp. so thats good ben if you beat them in your nova!! nice work!! :D

Just out of curiosity, when you are sitting in the cossie whilst stationary, do you ever think to yourself that it seems like a 1.6GL?

i dont think any car can have 2500 bhp?

The standard BHP of a seira costhworth?

if you attach a jet engine to it you could have well over 2500bhp.

thrust 2 has 40,000 pounds of thrust, and has the power of '1000 ford escorts or 145 formula 1 cars'

christ! :o
