K & N Air Filter

Hi guys, i have a 1.2 Carb Merit.

Just wondering if the ?60 for a K & N bolt on filter is worth the money?

What will the filter change? Sound/BHP/notice in acceleration etc etc?

?60 seems a bit much to me - i paid ?40 for mine.
I havent really noticed any difference in the performance of the car although its meant to increase it slightly. The biggest difference is the sound. The engine now sounds really powerful and growls.

Have a look around on ebay for some cheaper ones- im sure you could find one for much less than ?60

does it add anything to the BHP of the car do you know?

I dont know for sure, but have heard wild claims that they can add up to 8bhp (heard these from typical max power boys and dont believe them myself) If anything its probably 1-2bhp not anything to shout about..

to be honest it might make a ever so slight change on performance but nothing to notice. Main thing you'll notice is the noise. Not trying to sound nasty or anything but its not worth it on a 1.2, not for ?60.

a bit better throttle response probable. Engine can breathe a bit easier.
