play in steering and suspention??

rite im having problems with getting the wheel alignment done. the guy that was going to do it said there was to much play to do the tracking. so i had a look at it, and looked at the track rod ends and they looked ok but thought for the ?14 i should get new ones. after the new track rod ends it was better but he still thinks there is play in the system, he says have a look at the trailing arm bushes, and maybe your steering rack is worn. i have never heard of the rack wearing. think i may have a look at the trailing arm bushes and then take it to a different guy to get it checked again. what do you guy think?
