TD alternator

I'm after some advice on alternators, the one on me TD has died tonite and im gonna wip it off tomoz to have a look so does amyone no if u can take em apart and change stuff inside or am i gonna have to get another one, and if the latter is the only option where cani get one second hand as new one will be loadsa money!
any help would be great thanx.

get a new second hand one from ya local scrappy probably b a tenner as ur rite new ones do cost alot and no u kent take em apart and change stuff lot less hassle to get the new one and wak that on
