I live in Wales on one side of the Wye Valley in the best bit, they are all quite non-welsh accented people but was in Porthcawl organising a Roxy learn to surf event (not as gay as it sounds, female pro surfers and stuff) but the people there were about 10 years behind and very heavy with the accent.

I think 'job seekers allowance' should be revoked.

People would soon start job seeking if they had no money - and if the benefits agency stopped paying their rent for them. It would also enable the natural order of 'Survival of the fittest' again.

If you cant find a job, any job quick enough to pay your rent you find yourself homeless and deserve to be in that position too as anyone can find some sort of work if they try hard enough and really want to.

Think how much better the NHS and schools would be if the money paid in benefits were paid into those two sectors instead. It'd be fantastic.

Teachers could get paid more - as could the NHS staff (which is nice as my other half works for the nhs) and the emergency services could be improved by greater investment too.

Things like the road and rail networks would be able to recieve more funding etc.

I'm gonna find some figures for what was paid out in job seekers allowance last year.

Thats exactly what i am saying. If you are earning only ?4 per hour you only need to work 10 hours per week to make as much as you do from the jobseekers allowance.

A part time job in a bar, at a chippy, sweeping up fish-guts down the fish market or something would cover that nicely.

If you had no alternative choice, you'd have to get off your arse and take one of those grim jobs. Qualified Mechanical Engineer or not, if no money was coming in you would find something to keep a roof over your head and a shirt on your back.

Guarentee it.
Also, stuff like incapacity benefit and stuff should be more stringently judged. A minimal amount of money should be paid out similar to jobseekers allowance amount, but only for a period of time and then it will require further medicals etc. Not from the family doctor either - from an independant government employed medic. These medics should preferably have to rotate posts every six months so that people dont strike up a rapor with the medic, or even end up being a mate of theirs from down the pub.

I don't know whether to agree or disagree with you Andy about JSA. I've been on it and trying to live off that money is bolox. I also was a qualified Nursery Nurse at the time, was no jobs presently available. But having said that I could have, yes, got a job in a chippy, allbeit if there were any going.

JCentre are cunts anyway. My car got torched and so I could not get the 15 odd miles to work. Relied on lifts for a while. Had to stop work. "why didnt you get the train/bus/walk/fly" "easily done" "no excuse" "jsa stopped". Buses and trains were shit and got there like 10 and went back 7pm! Too late to start and to late to go home.

Thing is you see, it doesnt matter how qualified you are to do something, if you cant do it - and the jobcentre is there for you to go and claim free money - you WOULD find work doing something and spend time looking for work in your desired field too.

I know what you mean about them being a pain in the arse at the jobcentre though... My ex, her dad, her mum, her step-mum and her brother all work in jobcentres and they take great pleasure in stopping peoples money, especially people who seem to think society owes them a favour for some reason.

If you cant get to work and its 15 miles away though, and there are inadequate buses etc they shouldnt stop your money, because its not your fault. Especially if you have researched the bus timetable etc before you go to them.

Still - i still say i am right - if they let me run this country for 12 months it'd be sorted :D
