Can be a pain the arse if the nuts have seized etc and always useful to have a mate around to help, hold the hub when its being pulled off etc. If all is good and nothing else gone then it should be a few hour job at most.

Good luck!

If you take the driveshaft out to do it you will need to refill the g-box cos it will p*ss all over your drive and get a bolloc*ing for not remembering to put a tub under........well that's what I did when I changed my motor!

and why would he be pulling the shaft to do an outter CV joint? lol

cos without a pit or ramps it makes it awkward to get the joint off as you have to lie on your back and the whole world is at a different angle making it awkward.

It's just after a while of trying he may decide it's easier to take the shaft out and then he will need a drain tub and refill the g-box.

It was a valid comment for those who are less mechanically able and may have forgot or not known that oil will come out if you take the shaft out.

i still aint got a clue what you on about!

ill just take my car to a garage and have a profesisoanl do it!

unless someone on here is willing to repair it for me! ive got no idea what i will need, how much it will cost me or how to repair it!

oh well!

I'm not trying to cause an arguement but I have to agree with cambridge.

Jack and axle stands are all you need to do it. which if you (not you personally) haven't got then you shouldn't be removing the whole shaft anyway.

ramps make no difference as you have to prop the car up some other way once the wheel is off.

oh and as for lying on your back, get some old carpet or some scrap polycarbonate (conservatory roofing stuff), its comfy as fook :D
