What do you guys think of my car.....
Please be patient with the loading speeds, they are big images, sorry.
I spent the whole of today just cleaning and colour coding the engine bay and im pretty pleased with the result considering it was black a couple of days ago.
Oh and no jokes about the numberplate, its going as soon as i can afford a personalised one 8)

excellent, for some reason the 5 doors seem to be higher than the 3 doors
nice 1 mate looks sound
the two things i was gunna surgest was as phil said lower it
second was id get rid or either the slats in the grill and just mesh it or get rid of the mesh and just leave the slats
dan-hipgrave
17-07-04, 10:51 PM
yeh, i bought 15's because everyone said that you cant get bigger than 15's without arch mods and i reckon i could have easily got 17's without touching the arches.
dan-hipgrave
17-07-04, 10:52 PM
im undecided on what to do about the grill, i think i may just remove the mesh and have the slats, because im into standard looking novas....
Philsutton

what sideskirts are those phil, they look like the novadose ones, are they standard kit size or lengthened?
Philsutton
17-07-04, 11:05 PM
i brought the whole kit for a 3 door but the body shop made it fit. He swore quite a lot an didnt like the idea but he did an i think he did a good job
dan-hipgrave
17-07-04, 11:07 PM
 ive been looking out for some 5-door skirts that will suit my car, but i havent seen any as of yet. I think the only ones that would look right would be some lengthened GSI/GTE skirts.
Philsutton
17-07-04, 11:08 PM
i never seen that done on a 5door could be interesting
dan-hipgrave
17-07-04, 11:12 PM
i am gonna try and photoshop some onto my car to see what it would look like....
u cud always fit the long bits of the gte skirts instead of havin the fin part fitted that wud be easier and different

18-07-04, 09:25 AM
yeh thats what i was thinking, i think that that would be a lot easier but not too sure on how good it would look.
lookin really good mate and nice to see someone givin phill a bit of competition in the 5 door stakes :D
dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 09:33 AM
 cheers mate, although i dunno about competition, his looks far better in my opinion, and mine still has a ot of things that i want done to it before im completely happy with it.
Found out the other day that some pikie has nicked my rear wiper nut, so i now have just a grommet and bolt where my rear wiper was so thats the first job on my list......
yeh thats what i was thinking, i think that that would be a lot easier but not too sure on how good it would look.
recon it'll look good i was thinkin of doin this to mine but ill just stick with what ive got

I thought you'd had a small accident and the grill was in primer
Grey grills suit mk1's, but because your's meet's the white wing, it just doesnt have the same effect mate!
Keith

i used gunk to get rid of all of the crud, and then 2 tubes of Autosol metal polish and some bloody hard scrubbing to get the metal to shine. Close up its still not fully shiny in places but im happy with it.
As for whats next - the list doesnt end really.
- smooth boot
- 4 branch manifold and full system exhaust
- fix some minor problems
- get some welding done around rear arch/sill area on driver side
- fit a 5-speed box
- Get some bucket seats
- bloody drive the thing......... :D
lol keith
i am tempted to spray the bit under the light so it matches

yeh exactly mate, just a lot of hard polishing on the rocker cover/engine block and also on the fuel pump and vacuum trumpet thingy by the dizzy, they were originally bronze/copper in colour and that had gone black so i polished them and they came up shiny.
that autosols wicked stuff i use it oltho mine doesnt come up as good as urs
where did you get it from and how much was it lads, i will have to do mine this week befor the NW meet on saturday.
alford motor world ect ne place like that theres also an autoglym 1
dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 04:37 PM
Any good motor shop will sell it, halfords have it.
Yours will come up good as well epo, if you keep on trying. After the first attempt at mine it didnt look any different and i thought bugger this it aint doing anything, then after doing some other stuff i came back to it and just polished like mad, went through 2 tubes of the stuff and it has come up like that.
how much is it though,if it is the auto glym stuff then it will cost about ?10 a tube lol. also how many do oyu think i will need to get it looking sweet, 2 or 3?
might have to polish like fuck before trax then
dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 04:44 PM
i think you'd probably need a maximum of 2 tubes as yours cant be half as bad as mine was, and i still have some left after doing mine.
IIRC its just under a fiver per tube - summat like ?4.50
yeah i use the stuff on me tail pipes and me stainless airfilter pipe

dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 05:07 PM

people will always take the p**s because its a nova, all i do is either race them or take the out in then they change thier mind as they realise that neons dont make their car any faster. :D
dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 05:53 PM
yeh after a few people had seen my car they stopped laughing about it being a nova and all that, because at the end of the day, they drive fiesta's and saxo's

yeh you will always get the fannys that think that a new car is better than a old car!!
as for the 1400 dan, it is not the best of shells so there is no point in having it!! and mah mum and dad are pissing me off about having 2 cars. but saying that the GTE will be in the garage in the winter and im buying a calibra!! so the 1400 has to go and go to the car heaven (scrapy)

try convincing a female that an old car is better, they cant grasp it. Its newer, more expensive therefore it is better according to them :?
-Bruce-
18-07-04, 06:36 PM

well done, must have worked hard there. I was fighting a losing battle with my last girlfriend try to convince her novas are better than a brand new fiesta

Eh? why do you think im on a nova site? because i own and happen to LOVE my two novas. i also had a 1.1 E reg Fester beforehand. I dont think a newer expensive car is better at all, unless you're gunna give me the money for a TVR, Lambo, Rarri etc, then thats a different story..
Back to the subject. the car looks very nice Dan. Please please PLEASE promise me that you're keeping it mk1  this is the first mk1 five door that looks the part already
Philsutton
18-07-04, 09:04 PM
ah but your one the very few that dont think that way, the majority of females do.
thats when you should have said "...convince MOST females" :P

18-07-04, 09:12 PM
ah you'll get over it :D
dan-hipgrave
18-07-04, 10:19 PM
cheers Mel - yeh i am gonna keep it mk1, although there was a time when i wanted to do a facelift and put a GSI kit on it, but that passed after i fitted the GTE kit and i think that it suits the lines of the car well.
badnova
18-07-04, 10:21 PM
