Well, they're on there, and i can't seem to figure out how the accelerator cable works....

Carbs on Car

This is the cable thing (don't know what its called. lol)

And below is a pic of it again. the cable needs to be quite thin and slighly longer than the original nova one by the looks of things. The end of it needs cutting off and i have a bar which sits inbetween them. When you pull the cable the whole thing moves and the big bar opens the throttle.

I dont know how it works as i say, any ideas?

What cable, definitely does not need a twin one or does it?

Cheers for any help

Paul

You will need a new throttle cable as the existing nova one will not fit the weber linkage(or "cable thing")

I bought my linkage as a kit with cable and the lot but you should be able to buy a cable on its own.

Who fitted those carbs? they won't work, you've got no return fuel pipe. The excess fuel has got nowhere to go, you'll blow yourself up!!!!

no return fuel pipe?

They were removed from a nova and fitted to mine as they were....

you running an injection fuel pump?

well acctually with any pump, you want a 3 psi regulator on the feed, and dont bother with a return

Every car i've every seen with a carb, twin weber or not has had a return fuel pipe as when you come of the throttle in high revs the fuel pump is still pumping fuel even though you're not using it, has to go somewhere

My last nova had no fuel return and it was ok. it just used to smell a bit of petrol on overun. I could never work out what going on. The fuel had to go somewhere?!
My new has a fuel return via that plastic vapour seperator thingy, and no smells.

As for the throttle cable, that's confused me as well. Can't see what your supposed to do with that aly block. I tried threading the cables thru it in different ways, offering it up to the accelerator pedal, and even putting it in my girlfriend's ear but nothing worked. I have a plan tho. I'll put some pics up for you next week if it works.

that's what needle valves are for.

here's a pic of mine if it helps, although my throttle linkage is on the other carb

i've just had a closer look at your pic's. it's a twin cable linkage, you need a twin cable with a ball on both ends, similar to the pierburg set-up. the ball goes in the slot on the curved arm. one on each arm

No you don't need a fuel return with a mechanicqal pump. Will be over pressure slightly, so fit a small cheap regulator b4 the carbs and you will be fine.

Looking down on the engine, there should be two holes on the left of the bracket. The cables pass through these and accross to the radius arm, where they loop under and hook in at the slot at the end. You will need to thread them in backwards.
