head gasket query

what would happen if i tightened the bolts as tight as i could get them so i dint have to get hold of a torque wrench? Would it be ok? Whats the worst that can happen?

Don't even try it without a torque wrench.

Worst case scenario:
1, you'll warp the head if you don't tighten them incramently in the right order
2, and if you over tighten them the gasket will just squeeze out and will cause all sorts of broblems as the oil and water mix.

don't bother, you can rent them pretty cheap

get one! and make sure you know how to use it, ie stop pushing when it "clicks"
