Hi,

Rear antiroll bar, I have just got a GSi (1.2shell) going and it feels a bit shite at the back, is that because I have no roll bar on the back cos it's a 1.2 shell and I am used to SR shells which may have had a rear roll bar?

TBH I have never even noticed the bar on my SR!!!

Cheers

It is the std 1.2 beam with a 40mm kit on, feels really dodgy!

I have an SR one soif they are different can someone confirm this please.

yeah lol, the beams may be the same, but some novas (eg GSi) came with a torsion bar inserted to decrease twist and act as an anti roll bar. they may have come in different sizes I don't know. I'm pretty sure all beams have the holes for them.

with an uprated suspension kit, you may want the beam to twist more therefore not needing one. its personal choice.

In that case I will put an SR one on I have lying around, but while I am at it I may as well re paint the beam and fit my new bushes, That will sort it out!

you are on about the rear ARB's arent you?

if not then TAKE BOTH OFF the front lol

fit the rear one but leave the front off

I did have the one on the front off as I hadn't fitted it at the time running a big block motor so was heavy and the car oversteered so much I couldn't keep it on the road! So i fitted one and gonna leave the rear one off cos I just fitted my wheels and it is right now.

Just gotta get a 4 wheel alignment done (rear is adjustable through washer on hub bolts, someone done it on here).

surely the Astra GTE one is too long for the nova axle?

yeah it is ben...
i used the one which has the 2 bent ends to it. bolts to the rear of the 16v axle.

i welded some nuts to the nova rear beam and then bolted it to it

it has stiffened the beam up quite a lot , doesnt flex half as much. but out on the road i can barely tell the difference.

Hi,

Would a J reg 1,4i merit have a rear ARB if all 1.3's have.

What model novas have the rear arb's if the 1.4i dont as i never noticed the rear but it has a front.

Thanks

martin

Read the whole thread first....

GTE/GSi 24mm

SR/SRi 20mm

both pants.

I have just encountered a problem, last nite on the way home from work my car decided to, without warning, spin on me, it's ok I was going steady and just kinda 180ed on a wide left hander.

I think it's the roll-bar (prob not) or a petrol leak on the right hand side, going onto outside tyre on a corner, TBH it felt more like ice when it went. I hardly had time for opposite lock so had to just spin it as fast as I could and stop before I hit anything.
