got caught speeding coming out of a local town.... was overtaking a very slow moped, that was doin below the limit (30) but obviouslyt had to speed to overtake it, started to slow down but saw the cop to late, he had me for doin 62 in a thirty.... stupid i know, but i changed down to 2nd to over take an vavlers tend to accelerate well quick :( didint realise till way to late.......... problem is ive already got 3 points on my licence for speeding, nuthin eccesive but they are there, an ive only just been driving a yr....
F**ck felt like cryin after wards....
does anyone know wot will happed to me? ive got to take my details to the police office, anyway i can get out of losing my licence....
so upset, very tempted to just get a bike licence an go down that route instead if i do lose my licence..

Your insurance company must love you - driving for a year and got a valver

IIRC 30mph over a speed limit is an instant ban.

must have a very heavy right foot if you were doing 30 one minute then 62 the next!
but won't it still effect the licence if you're banned???
if worst comes to worst an you do get banned if you need someone to look after it an drive it about i'm only just up the road an don't mind

don't you only have 6 points on your licence for the first 2 years and then its extended to normal amount after this "probation" period. If so i'd say bye bye licence.

id say instant ban, 6 points in ur first year blimey, how the hell did u get insured on a valver in ur first year of driving, u must of taken driving lessons after ur 20 surely.

If you were in something with a bit of poke (ie ur valver) why didnt u just leave it in fourth or fifth and gently putter passed it. Was it necessary to hit 62, surely not, if it was then it obviously waasnt safe to overtake

Ste_Nova

i only just escaped a ban doing 50 in a 30

why did you 'have' to speed to overtake it?

i shall be the first to say this. you TWAT. what if there was a kid running across that hill as soon as you'd got up it? at 62mph, thats instant horrible death.

You are very stupid for speeding in the first place, you obviously never learned your lesson the first time.

even if you were following a slow moped, that is NO excuse to speed, especially in a 30 area.

i apprecaite things like this do bump insurance up, an on that account i can only apoligise, but try not to make assumptions wen u dont know enough about the person/situation/ road etc......

1. This site is not specifically designed for fast novas, its for people who like novas, and enjoy working with them.

2. probably a lot have people have done something stupid on a road, but maybe not this stupid.

3. valvers are quick, but if it isn't a built up area like you say, and the moped was going very slowly... why the need to change down to second...?

4. You've been driving a year... and you already have three points on your license... is that not an incentive for you to be more careful...?

Mate I am sort of sorry for you as I myself have had licence for just over a year and I can only imagine how it would feel getting ban! Thankfully I have not had a point yet, and I hope it will stay like this! However, speed limits there to be followed and this is not for us to break really. There is an area on M25 with road works and the speed limit is 40. This mght be night time and there may be no one in front and piles of cars behind but I would not do more then 44 there, if they want they can overtake, but i am not loosing my licence over some tw*t. This is my licence and I need it!

If you feel the need for speed, just play undeground. :) There are many things you can get away with and there is no copers! :)

And now the best bit! Mate you managed to upset nearly everyone here by contributing to Nova's bad name with insurance companies! God damn I drive 1.2 but they look at me like i drive McLaren F1 and charge accordingly! Mel made fookin good point! What if kid was there or even a rabbit or whatever! You would have to swerve and hit this biker, now at 62 it can cause death, they are less protected then you are! Mate think! You might be the best driver most of the time but, hell all you need is a stupid think like you have done and that it!

P.S.

PLEASE LEARN YOUR LESSON! :!:

 And for all of us lets just use some common sence, lets not be chavs with crappy kevved up novas that only get in to troubles! I do believe people here are good drivers!

i think it all depends on wot the officer in question watns to do about it, cause after ive taken my details to the station its up to him , im hoping that he was thinknin that i didnt have any mot/ licence/insurance cause if that was the case it is classed as a criminal offence, an that is wot they make there money off of, an it woudl look good for his monthly quota anyway, but a\s ive got them all, an he could see that i wasent racing just overtaking im hoping that he will let it go, an just scare me shitless instead! its like 3 hrs paper work to prosecute for him.... have to wait an see though :|

I'm sorry but the red mist has come down an i've gotta say sommant
EVERYBODY WITH A CAR OR MOTORBIKE AT SOMEPOINT SPEEDS doesn't matter what religion you follow, age, job it happpens

Quite correct, it does happen but the only reason people speed is because they choose to, those that speed more often are more likely to get caught more often and therefore deserve it for not learning their lesson (in my opinion).

yes tubs admitted he was wrong an clearly was wrong, everyone jumped in without knowing about what happened he could have been 10 ft from a 60 limit but that didn't matter the verbal assalts an low blows came in.

If it had of been 10ft from a 60MPH zone then that's no better - why not wait those whole 10 yards until it was legal to do those kinds of speeds?
A bit of common sense should be used, especially as Tubbs has already stated that it's a known spot for police to 'trap' speeding motorists.
Yes he was stupid and yes he has admitted it, but it seems like the message didn't get through the first time he was caught speeding considering he sped through an area known for speed traps!!
Again it all comes down to common sense.

yes he's got 3 points on his licence so what.......nowerdays it's hard to find people who havent as so many mobile speed cameras are everywhere an all to eager to releive you of cash an put 3 points on your licence.

I've been driving since I was 17 (that makes it 11 years) and I use my car everyday and do the average mileage so I could be considered and 'average' motorist - I recieved 3 points for speeding (46MPH in a 40 zone) about 6 years ago, since then I've taken it easy in built up areas and areas that I know the police setup speed traps, Yes I do ocassionaly speed but this is normally at 6am on my way to work and even then it's only 80-85 MPH on an almost empty duel carriageway in good weather, if it's chucking it down then I won't speed at all - far too risky.

it begs the question why have people spent thousands on engines if all you are gonna do is stick to speed limits an use what you have got on track days??????

That's up to them what they spend their money on, Calibre Coachworks allegdy spent ?150k doing up their MK4 Astra coupe and it only drove on and off a trailer - the amount spent on any car doesn't mean that you have to drive it to it's abilities - again that's upto the driver of the vehicle to decide.

that's my feelings on the matter if anyone has a problem with what i've written feel free to discuss this over a pm.

Nope - you put it in the public forums so I think i'll reply in those same public forums!!!
