i went down to velos today, after not being able to contact them by phone, only to find that the place is now a joinery workshop. the guy who was there was quite helpful and gave me a contact number for alan. he said that he had retired and recommended a chap who lives near santa pod called charles (CP).

don't know who i'm gonna use for a rolling road now. there is one local to me call D.A.T but i don't know if they are any good, and they certainly dont specialise in novas.

does anyone know anything more about why velos have wound up? and have they both retired or is it just alan?

cheers

ben.

Spooky! I've been down there today and obviously found out the same (posted on MIG).

I knew Al was looking to do something else but at the time I thought he meant as a sideline to Velos.

They only fitted my TBs in April ...shame they are both sound guys.

As for alternatives, lots of people recommend John Noble at Chesterfield - thats where I'll be going in future I think.

I recon they shut due to some pikie souther fecker who is rebuilding his nova abducting the pair of them in a feeble effort of trying to extract more power from a lawn mover engined nova. Rick

bugger, atleast there is a good RR near me still.

shame they shut up, but hey if tis what they wanted as opposed to a bank (like other companies ;) ) then good luck to them in what ever they do next

Sigh...such a shame. Worst part is, when my cars get a higher bhp figure than Dan's he'll claim "Ahh, it's not a true Velos figure"

Jim

P.S. Dan, you will have to get your car RR'd at the same place as me next time :)

I took my old 1.6T40 there and they set it up fine - seem like a OK place to me.

:(

thats a shame but TBH its been on the cards - Alan has a place in the shetlands and had always planned to move up there as soon as it was sorted.

There were other complications like noise problems which severely curtailed dyno development work.

Ah yes remeber Alan talking about that a while back. Didn't realise they had noise problems, they were quite out of the way really.

Do you know what Rob's doing now?

im guessing the houses next to velos (only a few) objected and rightly so i wouldnt want that noise by my house, still a shame

I remember being there when they RR CP's car, shutting the doors as noise level was mad!
