wasnt the swing a single point injection instead of carb, or is that a different model?
the engines are basically the same

SR had colour coding and rear spoiler, sports seats and the SR trim on the out side.,
1.4 merit has normal mk2 seats, dails. 1.4merit is like a 1.2 with a 1.4 engine, under bonnet looks the same :)

so no real difference in the engine department... sweet
cus I found a quote for a 1.4L nova that's 200 squid cheaper than the SR, then I can just fit SR bodykit or GSI bodykit without bumping up the insurance :D
How to get a SR cheaper... :P
yeah but alot of the SR's came with CR boxes and the 1.4SR had a better cam and exhaust
the sr cam is the same as the "regular" 1.4 cam
as is the exhaust and carb.
the sr is only really different by interior.
and suspension
hmmm...are you sure mate ?
didnt know that then.

what bout the 1.3 merit and 1.3sr? same scenario.
was there ever a 1.3 merit?
thought it was just L's and sr on the 1.3 front lol
the sr is lower by i think 10-20mm, not 100% sure on the amount tho

I am in agreement with you on this one stuart
the reason it was cheaper insurance is due to to the following facts:
1.3L
1.3GL? (early one?)
1.3SR
same engine same insurance group 5, differernt interiors etc
1.4L (this is a mk1 carb model)
1.4SR
Both same engines the L is inusrance group 6, the SR is 7 (dont know why so dont ask) Again interiors different
1.4 SPI
different story but thats mk2 and ill leave that to sum1 else

i had a 1.3 l and that was same engine, exhuast, carb etc as the SR. sr had better gearbox
on the 13/1400 sr all they had better in the performance department was different gearbox / suspention
