iam in the middle of my valver conversion (lol middle i wish) any how when i see other cars i wonder to myself if i will beat them and would like to have somethings cleared up.

would i beat a :

1/ std bmw m3?
2/ merc commpresser?
3/ any tvrs?
4/ golf vr6?
5/ scooby sti?
6/ ren hoe tub?
7/ cosworths?
8/ g-tir? (prob not but how close would it be?)
9/ 911s?
10/ ford rs turbos mk1 - mk4?

you may laff at some on the list as i did whilst writing it but if anyone has raced these cars pls do say and any others i have missed out cheers.

golf vr6 do 0-60 in about 7secs so depending on wot mods u do to ur engine it may be close (strip the interior!!)

You will beat the standard golf, standard Escort Turbo & standard Renault Turbo.

I can tell you that when you blast past a standard scooby (UK SPEC, 2000 AWD) the pilots always look well depressed that they have been "novataken".

As for the others.........finish the conversion and then go looking, I think you will be pleasantly suprised ;)

I know I was, I dont think that anyone can really appreciate just how ballistic the Nova is once it has been blessed with a valver conversion.

M3 evo - piece of p### lost count how many times and i think rex has video footage to prove(on way to mk)(check out power to weight ratios m3 not as quick as you think)

merc - done an sl on way back from york(me ste and brett)

Tvr - possible, cos most tvr drivers will bottle out higher speeds, but generally if going as hard as you NO.(but i have done a 450 something, with 200 witnesses (convoy to cruise) and a police letter for racing it on highway!!

golf vr6 - easy, numerous times witnessed at blackpool by fenix, and also beat a modded vr6 too, to the point he bottled a rerun

scoobys - uk easy, jap harder not raced a jap one(rumours round our png that jamie has just been caught by unmarked scooby at 120 in 60 thru lanes scooby had difficulty catching him!)

5 gtt - easy, but find a heavily modded one and ur struggling but not sure on top end of em but theyll blow up anyway! :D

cossies - again easy but not if modded.

gtir not had chance but mates 300bhp one was fookin rapid and i wouldnt have got near it.

911's - all bottled me so no idea, heard of ste and rob doing em tho.

rs's very easy, very overrated, to trouble you they will need to be getting on for 300bhp loadsa lag especially from standing start.

Road going Novas can do close to 0-60 in 5.1 secs, so I recon the race would be very close with that M3!
(What is the quickest time recorded btw?? Last I knew, it was 5.3ish for a ValverTurbo)

Most TVR's 0-60 are 5.5 at most, and just over 4 for higher spec monsters. (e.g. older Griffith = 4.9 to 60)
VR6 0-60 is 7.1 standard, R5GT is about the same standard.
911's...hahaha don't think so some how ;) (Turbo does 0-60 in 3.2!) Ina good chance with older ones, but even 20 year old ones do 0-60 in less than 6).
Scooby Turbos are rated at 0-60 in about 5.5 but don't know about STi?, Sapphire Cossies in 6.6, Escort cossies in 5.8, GTiR in about 5.6 standard! (or was that modded...can't remember now!)

Of course, most of those figures are manufacturers "claimed" figures, and done in the hands of professional test drivers, so out on the road, with the average driver, those times will generally be a lot slower. Race against a shite driver, and you can win almost anything!
It depends on the road too obviously.....I raced a VR6 in my 1.3, and won, but only 'cos the road was very bendy and I out-handled him by miles...on the straight he would have whipped my ass!

Just checked at www.porsche.com 911 Turbo 0-60 is 4.2 secs (Manual Gearbox)

All I can say about that VR6 is that it had a crap driver, but it couldn't go round bends for shit....I'm not saying it was the cars fault.....just the driver didn't dare go round bends as quick as I did.
My point (if you could be arsed to actually read what I was saying) was that a slower car can beat a quicker one if the quicker one is being driven by a shit driver, which in this case of the VR6, it was.

Try reading what the fuck I say before you start calling me a liar...ok!

I also get pissed of at wankers who say "my Nova can beat everything"....I was not fucking saying that for fucks sake!

As for the Porsche....the new 911 is slower than the one from about 96, as that did do 0-60 in 3.7 secs. (I was 0.5 out, but so what).
Not as quick as an RJD Tempest though...that does 0-60 in 3.3 and yes...that is a road car.

the RJD Tempest - not heard that name for a while. Last time i saw that was on the tyres ad where it draggs that saab viggen jet down the runway and then slamms anchors on before the wall at the bottom of the runway. AS IF!!!
Saab Viggen has a bloody dirty great jet engine for fecks sake. If i could find my old Top Trumps card i could find the thrust-weight ratio out but feck it... It's not that important anyway is it.?!?

my mates dad once tried beating a XJ220 from some lights - hahahahahhaha.
He was really impressed coz he was staying level with it till the jag driver realised he was trying to race him and dropped it down into second and put his foot down.
Back end of jag lowered slightly and WHOOOSH!!! Off he went with an almighty ROAR and then a little ping of light in the distance as he hit warp 9.

BMW = RWD, nova = FWD

in ideal conditions (drag strip with nice rubber down) the nova "might" beat M3 stock times, but err, in real life where roads arnt nice and grippy, in a FWD trying to take off from lights, say bye bye to traction

and i dunno what M3 ya on about, but some of them are seriously underpowered... in my BMW E30 its only a 1.8 at the min, but the bloke im getting it off can get me a 16 valve BMW engine (1.8, 2.0, 2.5, 2.7L) for peanuts, and fitting is an easy "out - in" job

so for about 600 quid i can have a 1.8 16v pushing out 160 bhp @ just over 1000kilo car, or for about 800 - 1k have a 2.5 - 2.7 litre 16valve/24valve beemer engine fitted... pushing out about 250 - 300+ BHP, but that adds about 80 kilos to the weight as its a straight 6 (dribble)

but basically, they are different classes of car, in onething the beemer will win, in another the nova will... its like comparing an apple to a bannana, both tatse nice but in different ways...
