I'm buying a 1300 engine (mine's currently 1200) to tune up, was going to get the bottom end lightened balanced, arp conrod bolts, heavy shell bearings, etc. Any how problem is insurance, as far as i know the bore is the same in the 1200 and 1300 block, will the 1200 block fit the 1300 engine, would it be the same? I read some where that the extra 100cc is made by a longer stroke? Reason i want to know is because i wanted to keep the stamp on my 1200 block for insurance reasons, as my insurance will be already expensive because i've added t40s, 4 branch, exhaust system, polished+ported+skimmed head and kent cam. Would be great if anyone knows about this, as i'm going to buy the engine with in the next week. Cheers

with the right bits

1.3 crank and rods in 1.2 if i remember correctly it makes a 1.4 :D

the blocks are different height, 1300 is taller so that wont work steve.

what they used to do was get the 1300 block and bore it out to accept the 1200 pistons / rods to make it into a 1400

so a 1200 block on 1300 engine won't work?

not really
a waste of time unless you want a 1200cc engine

just stick the 1300 block in and grind off the engine code

Do you mean bore out a 1300 block to accept 1400 pistons and conrods?
Do i still use a 1200 bottom end or 1300? Thanks for your help

the 1200 has a larger bore than the 1300

1300 has a longer stroke than the 1200

combine the 2 and you get a 1400 cc

you need to use the 1300 block , bored out to accept the 1200 pistons. use the 1300 crank.

peter maiden components used to do an off the shelf convertion for this, they sold you the pistons / rods and told you what to have your 1300 block bored to. then you just assembled it.
