View Full Version : headgasket fixed
well after 2 days of off on work ive fitted a new gasket on the motor, the gasket had cracked twice!! and the head was so badly warped it had to be skimmed 6 times, got it done cheap though. all in all its cost me ?50 for everything so its not bad. just boring work breaking in the gasket lol, also need a top hose for it if anyone has one spare?? im in desperate need!!
my main water hose went when id did mine but head was ok didnt need skimming
+ for all the parts it cost me ?41 so not to bad
plzed its up and goin mate
i did my head gasket tonight, it took me 4 hours, is that good or bad? i though i best get it done incase it finally let go at donnington tomorrow
4 hours is quicker than me
did mine in about 12 hours   a few hours a night but ivd never tackled owt like that before so shud be quicker next time
i didnt mine in about an hour and a half :D
i thought mpi cars were harder to do tho :?
my 4-1 manifold is a bitch to work on.
mine was but mainly due to siezed bolts
it took me so long because i was working on other cars in the garage at the same time, got my top hose now anyway cost me ?2 from the scrappy, and also the rubber seal on the top of the carb had broke and ive got a new one of those. so far ive done 120miles and its better than it was before.

soak everything in wd40... and get air tools :)
i've snapped rockers in my 1.4 on the way to work.. then had it fixed and been in work for lunchtime
I did my mates a few weeks ago, managed it in 2+half hours.
MPi cars are harder to work on due to less space around manifold and more wires/pipes.
I just left the manifold on so it was a total of 16 bolts/nuts and a few hoses and cables. Oh we also changed the valve stem seals as old ones were brittle and knackered.
