If you can get them for 45 quid i would go for it cos the usually 75.
I had some in my valver before and it was reving to 8000rpm and it didnt let loose.
which site was it?

good price, but to fit them PROPERLY requires a stretch guage!

they dont break.. but the rod will at those revs.

chamfer varies rod to rod,

16 engines are good mostly, but good point all the same !

In my experience, the valve train breaks before the rods let go.

I used to rev standard component to around 7.5krpm and the main problem was oil delivery and surge.

Hitting 3rd gear insted of 5th when changing from 4th at 7.5k resulted in a valve head breaking off and desatroying the head a cylinder. The stem had been wasted. The rods were fine.

CP's rev limiter is around 8100rpm. To be on the safe side, the rods are de-seemed and shot peened with arp bolts.

When I had a ex engine in it was running on carbs, cams, double valve spring and all I did to the bottom end was renew the shells, oil pump, and water pump and fitted arp bolts and it was reving to 8000rpm with no problems and nothing give way, It depends on how good your bottom end is and if its been put together correctly.

yea.. thats your experience with one engine.. hardy a rule to set them all by

ive done many more.. your valve broke coz you buzzed it. and of course coz the hydralic follower jacked it up

on constant low geared full load you must uprate the top end, the little end of the rod will come apart.. then before. Ive run these to 8700rpm (on the tellemetry.. not on an inaccurate rev counter or )

H- section rods are a must

if your talking of rev limits of 8100rpm.. then thats onot a road engine, and if it is , its a pipe dream.

standard xe rods can take 9000 rpm with arp bolts and 300 bhp so you wont have any problems there

my arse.

typical internet forum bullsh1t.

Jesus . if you dont believe me, than at least have a look at other successful engine builders.. SB, QED, JRE..Swindon.. all using h section rods, you think we do it for fun!

Ive had them on proper stretch guages and they break under the little end at about 8 ton pressure.. that equates to a certain value of BMEP that an engine generates at BDC on the start of the exhaust stroke.. do the Maths!

The hard limter on the DTA is set at 8100rpm, might even be marginally higher.

Please can you give a definition of a road car/engine. I don't think there are any hard and fast rules, as long as it passes an MOT, which it does.

with DTA, you set the hard limit at whatever you want.

Well I know all about SBD cos I was running a MBE 3D Ignition system from them and they also told me that 8000rpm on a standard block should be fine aslong as the block was in good condition and had ARP bolts in, so they mapped the system to 8000rpm and thats what I ran it at and it was fine. I aint gona argue with SBD they the ones that know what they talking about.
(good fun for a road car!)

P.s. I still have the ignition system and I'm going to sell it soon. Open to serious offers only... I paid nearly ?650 for the complete kit!

8000rpm on a std rod is about limit yea.. not the 9000rpm someone else said.

SB dont actually build as many as you might think.. they make their money from parts

and one of british rallycross engines is currently slaughtering 3 of his!

About your kit- what is it. might have a customer, but only if I can remap it.

its a bit different on a racer on slicks with very short gearing, but nice one anyhow.

Might be coming over to race at castle comb soon myself. depends on workload.
