lads,

just wonderin the outpuf of

1.4sr block bored to 1.6
worked 1.4 head
twin 40s
lightened and balanced
high lift cam (dont know particular one)

if it was all set up properly on rollers i would make a stab at around 98bhp

what you think?

Cheers

Are you wanting flywheel figure or figure from the wheels?

For comparison have a look at this feature:

http://www.novaload.net/features/viewfeature.php?ref=207

He's running 113bhp @ the wheels which amounts to around 140bhp at the flywheel.

I reckon with those mods you could see between 100-110 at the flywheel. Bear in mind that the Nova sport was a 1300 with twin 40's and a high lift cam, and that produced 100 bhp. With the greater displacement of your engine, properly set up of course, theres no reason why you can't exceed the 100 bhp mark with the above mods

how big an overbore??? is this possible and if so how reliable wud it be

most ppl only overbore 1mm or 1.5mm so 50-80cc's etc

I actually don?t know if such a rebore is possible because these mods were detailed in an advert from a lad selling a nova

He could be talking through his little passage

If I was to buy it a vernier pulley would be top of the list along with a total interior strip out

Any other good gusses?

Cheers for the replies lads

most nova high lift cams perform best at normal TDC settings so the vernier is worthless from what ive heard (mike and dan both had em on and set to 0 although those were both kent cams)

and a 1400 block would need stroked out to get 1600cc - u simply couldnt enlarge the bores enough to get it any bigger on standard stroke - which is why vaux uses a larger block for the 1800 and 2.0 egnines

what 1400 head are they using? if its a worked SR head it won't be that great as they aren't really workable, if its an SRi head it should be quite a reasonable performer 8)

be better off getting a GTE/GSI engine and whacking 40's on that. that'll see you to 110. Then if u want, get the cam, head done for more power.
