The 500miles were worth it. Had a real good chat with Bill (Blydenstein). Took him my spare 1200 head which he is going to 'B+' it for me.

Standard valves on my head are 31mm, but instead of using normal 35mm inlet valves for the operation, he showed me some 36mm inlet valves that came out of a VX monza head (i think he said), and my head is the first one he's going to use them on. :)

The exhaust valves are form a nova sri which is interesting.

Another little bit of info, he was delighted when he saw the underside of the head cause apparently the 1200 heads are slightly better than 1300's.

The have a bit better inlet's and around the valve seats there is more room. So there you have it.

Gonna r/r before i fit it to see what difference is like.

Good stuff.

if you are paying extra to have SRi valves fitted, you should have started with a SRi head. what are you paying?

as above...

and what is being done to it altogether ?

:+: Nice one mate

It costs peanuts to have larger valves fitted to that head, so starting with a 1200 isn't a bad idea if bill is doing it. The compression ratio will be right, and the porting job will work well on the 1200 head.

One note though, it is possible to fit 38/39mm inlets though, I've seen it.

Should be good, and I look forward to seeing the results!

Hey all.

All of Bills B+'s he does use SRi exhaust valves, i'm not paying extra for the 36mm inlet valves, just standard B+ rate.

Bill does do a B++ which is same as B+ except for 39mm inlet valves (B+ = 35mm inlets). But thats a bit overkill for me.

Barn, what do you mean by 'what is being done to it all together'?

If u mean what goes into a 'B+', u will need so speak to Bill.

if you are having the work done you should have the B++ to save you wanting more in the future

in the future furure i'll have a 1600 so a 1.2 head would be pretty much out of the question.

Barn, what do you mean by 'what is being done to it all together'?
yeh that is what I meant mate...

do you know what is being done then or....?

you'll have to modify the piston to fit that head.. im sure he told you that.

how is that steven ?

i won't need to modify any pistons, why do you say that? They are already pocketed, but the new vavles won't be any longer, just fatter!

He knows what he's doing. He has been doing it for 20 years and has helped vauxhall win tons of rally's and races, he's got loads of pics of all the cars he used to be involved with, nearly all of them winners.
