Can anyone help???

The engine is running fine until I reach apr 50mph, uphill. Then it starts to choke and looses power, like it's getting to much fuel, even though I do not touch the accelerator at the time. Usually the engine turns off when this happens, but it does not overheat.

At speeds up to 50mph and downhill it is fine.

I have already changed: the fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter, spark plug HT leads, coil, distributor rotor, distributor cap, distributor shaft and plugs.

The engine does not misfire and is very easy to start.

thx

have you bled the cooling system? an airlock could be causing it to overheat around the head.
maybe the timing is way out.
could be some muck in the carb
it could even be a loose cable or the earth strap could be failing.
what sort of mileage has it done?

cambelt may have jumped a tooth. Check it out cause someone on here had exact same prob and that was the cause.

yeh, check the cambelt. my old 1.2 skipped a tooth due to the water pump being knackered (tensions the belt).
