Recently purchased a TOAD alarm/immobilser and ive been told that you get cheaper insurance having a TOAD fitted, but it needs to be fitted by a qualified fitter who can give u a certificate of some sort to show to the insurance otherwise you dont really get ur insurance cheaper. Is this true?

Also i rang a car alarm company who said they would fit it, but it would cost ?200+ inc. VAT! is this a crazy price, or can you get it a lot cheaper?

Cheers

my insurance company (liverpool victoria) wouldnt give any discount for a cat 1. but i had it done anyway, so its worth checking to see if its worth it in the first place, other wise you may as well just fit it yourself, it shouldn't be too hard, as long as you have instructions to tell you where the wires are going - i beleive they are all black on a toad?

insurers that will take into account alarms will require proof of proffesional fitting (the certificate), so ring your insrance company before you do anything.
