i recieved an email yesterday from a company claimin to be ntl it said


Dear user of Ntlworld.com e-mail server gateway,

Your e-mail account will be disabled because of improper using in next
three days, if you are still wishing to use it, please, resign your
account information.

it also had a file attachment
believing this was genuin i open it as i believed it was safe

it wasnt the file had a virus on it luckly me mc Cafries anti virus thingy picked it up and deleted it
i rung ntl up to ask em about it and they said it had nothing to do with them
bit worring like as if i didnt have me mcCaffries i wud have infected me comchuter so i thought id warn people

is norton better than mc caffries as i was told mc caffries is shite like but its just saved me lol

i usi have norton and a program called avg, when i first installed avg i scanned comp wi notron told me there were no viruses, so scanned it again wi avg to be told i had 5 of them, canny remember the address but will try find it for ya, cause its free to download

when i first installed mcCaffries it found 412 infect files mainly a trojan virus :o

mcafee anti virus is not one i would personally use

i use avg free and have the setup exe file to hand if u want me to send it over, you want to use that and the following:

firewall hardware and or software (norton internet security will do you ok)

anti adware SW e.g. adaware 6 or spybot 3

keep your pc up to date e.g. win2k users get SP4 and XP SP1 and ALL latest updates (until SP2 is finally released)

sorry if this is a load of jibberish to some users and sorry if for others it looks like im trying to talk down to you, if u want any help on basic pc security (windows based stuff) then give me a shout i can always whack up a CDR of all the stuff you need (the free stuff that is)

i see only problem with copies is the updates will run out eventually causing u to unistall and look for a newer updated AV SW, thats why avg free is good
