changing gear box, need help ! urgent !

Just got to the point where i need to pop the drive shafts out, but i've just realised that my new f10 box might be a 4 speed !?

how can you tell if it's a 4 speed or a 5 speed ?

i need an urgent answer please, trying to do it now.

I don't know if the F10 box is the same but my F20 box has the the gear selection pattern just above where the linkage attaches to the gearbox. If thats no help why not just try and see if you can select 5th. If you can then you know its a 5 speed. Hope it helps.

im guessin it is a 4 speed cos my current 5 speed box has a gearchange diagram on the linkage and this new one i got form a scrappy doesn't !

the selector cover is the same for both boxes

the 4 speed is shorter than your existing box

the end plate is also different

4 speed has a large 36mm socket plug on the end

5 speed either has a smallish hex bolt or nothing depending on age
