Has any one ever had any bead blasting done, as we have found a bit of rust in the seam's of the engine bay whilst stitch welding and have decided the best way to cure it once and for good is to have the bay and inner wings bead blasted so we can chop out any corroaded metal. Its only costing ?80 at a local firm who specialise in this sort of thing which is quite reasnable for the amount of work i would have to put in to completly strip the whole front end of paint + underseal.
Has anyone had any experiance with this + any advice on if its worth doing?

I'm planning to get my white nova's bay, floor and inner arches blasted when i get round to working on it. There's a local guy that sand blasts lorry chassie's!
Would bead blasting be better than sand?
Keith
i would have thought bead blasting being a bit strong for a nova.

its shot blasitng that uses metal balls that is really strong, i thing they only use tiny plastic media to attack car panels.
I remember Ste saying something about it removing some zinc coating or something or other (Which the shell is dipped in before painting to prevent further corrosion) - best to ask him really.

Sand blasting would remove any coating, but so would rubbing hard, or sanding down to the metal.. as long as its well sealed and painted afterwords it should be fine!

Bead Blasting uses platic beads that can be used a few times before being melted down and used again.
The metal beads are used on wheels and heavy duty steel panels to remove rust.
Plastic is not as harsh as metal and is the choice for most companys when working on cars.
oh my days!
