Take the strips off the side of the doors and wings too.

If it is MK1 then clear winkers or MK2 front end.

Do something with the bumpers, colour code or clean to look new.

Don't mesh the grill if the car is a dark colour.

Make it look clean.

what i've done to the car so far is, a new set of rear lights(red) and colour coding. I have also been ringing the scrap yards up and i've found a set of 15s. the car has had the side strips and badges removed. I will try and get some pics soon

ps has anyone got any doors because mine are a bit rotten

Fibreglass, carbon fibre and titanium is the way forward. Not the only one before anyone says anything. :D

Mike.
03-07-04, 10:48 PM
i've only got a limited budget so i think carbon fibre might have to wait a bit
i was thinkin about a carbon fibre bonnet but i think there about ?300 not cheap :o

still trying to get some pics of my car :)

Al Wilson

Custom fibreglass then, realitively cheap and infinite possibilies for your choice!

Not good for cracking on stupid fields though. (Yes, I'm still bitter!)

Mike.
03-07-04, 11:19 PM
i never really thought of that could u get tailgates and other body panels made then

wuold make the car really light aswell :)

Al Wilson
03-07-04, 11:23 PM
Thats the idea with mine. It is expensive but I've been building it over 2 years so the cost has been spend.

Mike.
03-07-04, 11:26 PM
must of cost a fortune, is the fibre glass for a ice install aswell as body panels?

Al Wilson
03-07-04, 11:29 PM
Haven't got any ice in mine whatsoever but it can be used for whatever you wamt really

sounds good but i was thinkin about GTE front bumpers

ur car is a mk2 so the gsi bumper willlb a better fit than the gte one
and coz u got the mk2 grill it will (imho) look better wiv a gsi as opposed to a gte front bumper

Mike.
05-07-04, 10:09 AM
it was just a idea really, it would be different

cooper_nova
05-07-04, 10:12 AM
it was just a idea really, it would be different

it is possible to fit it but u'll need the mk1 bumper iron too(i belive) by all means do it but u might need to mod the grill a bit to get a good fit 8)

Mike.
05-07-04, 10:16 AM
iron it, is that to make it curve or somethin, i would try it iff i had a gte front bumper :o

Dpnova
05-07-04, 10:18 AM

Gunzi

If you wanna make your car faster, buy some astra 16v brakes calipers and pads.
They are a lot better than thee flimsy discs that the lower spec models came with, then you can brake a lot later into corners.
They go for around ?50-?60 and take a couple of hours to fit max.

Mike.
05-07-04, 04:51 PM
i thought puttin new brackes on your car would effect the insurance?

robb
05-07-04, 05:00 PM
If anything it could bring the premium down as these are better brakes and you can say you are thinking of safety first.

But 99% of the time it won't affect it at all.

Mike.
05-07-04, 05:02 PM
cheers for that you'v opened my eyes about the brakes

If only they thought like that!! it will put the premium up....

Gunzi
05-07-04, 06:01 PM
it probably will put the premium up if you tell them
As its a modification to the car, a non standard part
