are they any good or what ?

how would a Nova 2.0XE get on against one tuned to about 160bhp ?

got a guy slating Nova's on a local site (that has a Punto GT) just wanted to see if they are any good ?

last time i asked about them it turned in to a multi page arguement.

i had a brief race against a standard one and stayed on his bumper through 1st and 2nd gear. then we slowed down. that's the only experiance i've had against them. my mate raced a standardish one 3 times at santa pod. he had a exhaust, air filter and a dumpvalve and got high 15's on all 3 runs(15.8/9) but they are like any turbo car. turn up the boost and they fly and then go pop.

they break down... a lot! lol, i was looking into em before the clio, shit interiors, look boring, very tuneable tho! should think a 160bhp one would be even with a valver till over 80, the valver would leave the Gt from there imo

the punto has got potential; like any car. its a tackier (?) modern day ren 5 turbo; its one of the last of the small block turbos made at the time; now that insurance has got the better of 'em theres none. (new top of range punto has a 1.8 16v efi in it like the corsa) deffo under dogs. i know a lad with a highly tuned punto gt supposed to be running 180+bhp!

The best was hearing the reasons for shit times "yeah man you iz got better tyres than me" or the best was " Yeah man i went from 1st to fith by mistake an then 2nd to 5th by mistake an then 3rd to 5th by mistake"

I bought one with 64,000 miles on the clock, I sold it with 92,000 miles on the clock and its still go strong now, it done 51 quarter mile runs last weekend at Crail. Its got a bleed valve and running a constant 16-18 psi and a I/C.

Nothing wrong with them at all apart from they handle like a brick.

They are far better now than they used to be, in 2 yrs time i bet money on most novas been rust with 4 rubber tyres on.

On the subject of punto GT's dont really rate them, in comparison to a XE'd nova there is no point wasting the fuel racing them.

round a track it isnt about who has the biggest power, ive seen a 1.3 nova sport stuck to the back bumper of a scooby round a track. Its all about handling which i doubt a any fiat will have

no it wasnt a sporting it was deffo a turbo, had the obligatory 23 speed gearbox(must have as it went ptisssh enough lol) and it got beat numerous times by a NA 1.6 8v
