Just a quicky again,

Would not having my fuel and air mixture correct cause the car to smoke????, im just trying to narrow dwn the options, coz i put a k&N filter on so i was woundering would i have to alter the mix too.

what colour smoke? if you mean black, then that'd be overfuelling.
a light grey would be nearer to correct mixture i think.

black smoke? on a petrol nova? -somethings on fire more like!
if a diesel nova; buy a petrol nova.
bluey smoke is oil. if its whitey/grey thats ok. does it smell a bit rich? overfuelling.

Take it to a garage and get it tuned properly, they have the gas testers to set the emissions right and ensure it is running efficient. They will also to the timing if you ask them.
