Upgrading alternator - which one??

I am looking to upgrade my alternator and have found one from a GTE. Would this be better than the one currently on my mk1 1.2? What ones are the best - i am presuming GTE/GSI are better than all other models yes.

failin that mate fit a cav td if ur gunna run a lot of stereo

the gte alternator isn't much better than the std 1.2. go for a diesel or big engine (2.0) one.

ok cheers guys, so the turbo diesel's are the ones to get. Do these wire in and mount exactly the same as my current alternator?

what diffrence will it make on one with no ice?(mk1 1.2 carb)

it will make no difference and would be pointless.
