Well after much thought i have decided to stop spending money on the nova! After spending approx ?25 000 on it i think its time to call it quits.

Before anyone asks i wont be selling the car ever! i just wont be modding it like i have in the past. I am finally happy with it and if i was to spend more it would be on expensive things like a quaife gearbox etc. I just cant justify any more on the car.

I have a list of cars i want to own before i settle down and get to old! So enter the new project and my dream car. Ive taken delivery of a dead mk1 escort mexico and plan to build this into a minter with cossie power sharing all the costs with my best mate so it will be a joint project.

My new car is going to be an evo 6 and i am saving hard now to get the deposit and insurance togeather. I plan to get one by the lastest september so should be taking the nova and an evo round Silverstone!

Like i say the nova wont be going anywhere and it will be at all the usual shows, but no more rebuilds. Just got to find somewhere to store it now!

Will keep you posted when i get the new car and the progress on the escort, thats if i have any money to do anything else!

I'm not a fan of Evo's myself, but they are quick cars.

However respect to You on the purchase of a MK1 mexico, I am running a GRP4 MK2 escort rally car for a friend/customer of mine with a 260bhp dry sumped 2L 16v Vauxhall in it, a 5spd quaife dog box and Fully floating Wide atlas axle. It is a weapon to say the least :o :o

Anyone that hasn't experienced a big power Escort MK1 or MK2 has not lived :D

Karl :o Nooooooooooo..............

You need more mods to get into 13's!!! How about you buy a Diff.... then stop spending  That way the Nurburgring will be more entertaining :D

Good luck with the new project mate.

Neil

P.S: Ordered the USC club stand pass on the pit side, if you haven't already got yours?!

Cheers for the comments guys.

Big russ, ive allways wanted a mk1 escort and dreamed of owning a cossie but they fetch too much money. So me and my mate decided we should build a cossie mk1 on a budget, should hopefully fly. Going to build it purely for track days.

Neil, funny you should say about the diff. I have the money now for it but its a big chunk towards my insurance so i am in a bit of a muddle. Think i will get the diff the call it quits  oh and the perspex windows and fully stripped out SLAP! Shut up Karl off you go again

As for stopping the mods, i am not stopping just moving on to a bigger toy. I just hope i can afford to run the thing.

P.S ive just joined the lancer register, and boy do i feel young talking to them guys

I wont ever sell the nova if i can help it, too many people do it and regret it. I just couldnt watch someone else drive it.

Ive just met John on the lancer register and also another mig member was on there, crazy!

I have been honest from day one with them and told them i own a nova  Top bunch of guys and girls on there so far, very helpfull with advice etc. Well worth the ?35 to join.

P.S Just been out for an hour in the nova, first drive since PV. I felt sorry for it what with the new car talk  Damn i still love that car, it put a smile on my face straight away.

iirc karls best was a 14.4 or a 14.7, not really made for 1/4miling tho, has serious trouble putting the power down...or could just be the dodgy driver!?!?

How much did you pay for MK1 RS2000 shell, when i was looking for one they wanted ?k's just for the rotten shell.

Good luck with the rebuild, just a shame that such a rare thing as a MK1 RS2000 wont be rebuilt into original condition as they are so rare, cant you pick on a normal MK1 shell and build it into RS2000 Livery?

Nice one karl. I remember you mentioning the evo when i spoke to you at pv. I dont thinkyou can argue with what you are doing. Best of both worlds really.

evo 6 probably the best evo made in my book. maybe the 5 as well.
id definatly get rid of my car to own one of them. :D

But its good to hear your keeping the nova to. made a name for itself. best not to let it go to someone who wont keep it as mint !

Anyhow good luck with getting the evo. look forward to seeing it about.

Thanks for all the comments guys, the whole reason why i wont sell the nova is because of the people i meet because of it. Sounds cheesy i know but its true

Best time on the strip was 14.7, and yes i think some of that was down to the prat driving, ME! But as dan said its not what i built it for so not to bothered with quarter mile times.

Ben, I payed ?350 for a bare shell with a tree growing in it! But i have a new floor etc to go in it so not too worried.

Chris, thanks mate. Glad to know other people think i am doing the right thing, i keep questioning myself! The evo will take all my money but in my eyes it will be worth it. 0 - 60 4.4, 150 mph, 13.3 quarter as standard! and its my dream car so i have to do it.

Nice move,

I still wish I'd have kept my old nova after the amount of work i'd put into it, and now I've got the latest shed 16v'd its just begging for the bodywork to be done - I'm just in the dilemma of spend or not to spend, trying to justify it as an investment and I'll recover my money if I sell it, but I know I wont want to sell it if its looking nice,

think you've made a good decision tho to stop and have a play with something else, whilst still keeping the nova.
