fuel and air mixture!!!

What up G's,

Just a quick question,

If my fuel and air mixture isnt correct, (due to putting a k&n bolt on filter on) would it cause my car to smoke when i floor it, ive been told it is poss. the valve stem seals or the piston rings, it isnt the headgasket i dont think because my water level is not dropping at all, and also wheni do floor it i get a strong smell of petrol asif it isnt being burnt properly. Can anyone shed sum light on this?

I had a bolt on filter to 1.4 engine (Pierburg 2eb carb) and it had a tendancy to smell of fuel every now and then.

As for smoke that is burning oil, I had a 1.8 engine that did that, then it killed itself within 30miles on full oil level.
