sparks from under air filter!!

When i rev the car or try to set off it sparks and a puff of smoke comes from under the left of the air filter (k&n) it sparks just above the place where you can rev the engine without sitting in the car and doing it.(cant describe it really)

any help much appreciated cos it cuts out when i rev it or pull off!

it would help if you said what engine your were running mate, e.g carb, 40's, tb's injection

take the air filter off and rev the engine and see whats going on

sounds like your timings a bit whacked and your getting flames shooting up the inlet manifold and out the carb

this will eventually set the filter on fire so u need to sort it asap

its a 1.4 carb engine.

i know the timing is a bit out.

yeh ill take the filter off then m8 then get back to u what i can see ok.
