errr maybe the same oil you'd use in every other engine, i don't think there's any special '2lt 16v redtop' engine oil
But anyway, GT magnetec's pretty good stuff

i always get some expensive stuff. not because im a bit slow, or even rich its just a good oil is worth paying money for especially if your engines done a few miles. something like mobil 1 or castrol gtx.

so are castrol GTX and Mobil 1 about the best ?

what are they fully synthetic ?

will be getting some for my Next engine probably

but don't go sticking fully synth straight in an engine thats been run on mineral (no matter how many 'experts' on here say they did it and their engine is 'fine') as you run the risk of hard deposits where you want free flowing oil. ie fooked engine

castrol GTX is plenty, and on a road car changing the oil as frequent as poss will pay in the long run.

i heard that castrol stuff has a high ash content compared to others which can cause the oil to deteriorate quicker

dunno if thats true or just pish tho

i've always just used halfords 15w40 although the xe's are supposed to run on 10w40 im sure

yep magnatec is good half of what peps say bout oil etc is shite, in a day to day engine any half decent correct grade oil will do

i wouldnt use Mobil 1 in a lawnmower.

If you see what happens it when it gets hot!!

I know for a fact even when Mobil 1 where sponsering the works teams.. they didnt use it coz they lost engines on it.

the oil film totally breaks down and doesnt recover after cooling,

i use Castrol RS in all my dry sumped 280bhp engines and Millers in all the roadish ones running a wet sump.

10/40w from vauxhall,

there is no need to put any special stuff in put in what it runs on when it was new

why throw money away on a fancy name
