rite im trying to replace the cambelt ive took off the drivebelt off and lined all the markings up but i cant get the bottom pulley off without the whole lot moving, ive put the handbrake on and put it in gear and still the f**ker moves!! ive read through the haynes and it dont tell you anything about if you cant get the pulley off, any ideas on how i am supposed to get it off?

put it in gear, 5th is good. and handbrake on.

then undo it (big bar) that should be ok

just tryed that and it still f**king moves, this is stupid now something must be wrong ive done it exacally like it says in the haynes but it still anit working. :evil:

define moves. as in the engine turns over a lot.or the fact that your taking up the play in the gearbox and everything. THEN it iwll undo.

it turns over alot, i am doing it the rite way (to the left) and it is in 5th gear, i really cant understand why its doing this?

clutch is fine it worked fine the other day and the car doesnt move atall, this is annoying now ive been trying to get hold of a mechanic to come and do it because it has just pi**ed me off now, ive done exacally as it says in the haynes how annoying :x

I had that trouble while changing the head gasket.

What you do is take off both of the clutch/flywheel covers from under the car and stick a medium to large sized flatbladed screwdriver inbetween the fly wheel teeth to stop the crank from turning.
The screwdriver should go in the front (car end) side of the flywheel to undo the bolts and the rear to tighten them.

or the other way to do it is to refit the belt, and stick something big and chunky through the cam pullywheel. this then gets stuck between itself and a bolt in the back plate and stops the whole lot from moving. not the 'professional' way i know but it works.
