exhuast on a C20XE engine

what exhaust should i use? im gonna get a custom one eventually but il need one on to drive it to the exhaust place. could a gsi/gte one be altered to fit n would it drive ok as its a fairly small bore. also when i do get the custom exhaust whats the best bore to go for? i want a nice powerful roar like a scooby rather than just a noisy raspy sound.
