I have just been messing around with a very old pic of my car in photoshop as i am thinking of changing my rims for when it is finnally built next year. The first pic is it with the rims i have now, these are sitting in my garage ready to be sent to be re-conditioned but i cant decide whether its going to be better to get hold of some ronal turbo's like in the bottom picture as they look hard as nails. Opinions?????

You won't get Ronal Turbo's to fit.. tried on mine

Hence why mine ended up like this.. you'll have to find some 2nd hand as they don't make them anymore.. Sold mine last year to a lad with a corsa as they still didn't fit that well.

is it just the offset thats wrong breeny as i know that i would have to have them machined down to et 45/49. You can still get them new as i nearly bought a set from a vw show at the weekend. You car looked mint on those rims though mate

You can't buy Compomotive TH's new.. trust me lol

And yeh it is just the offset, but you won't be able to machine it that much.. You can only do a few mm before you start to affect the strength of a wheel..

I know you probably dont want to put on Speedlines etc, They would look lovely on the car, since its so original!

But what about 16" Softstars?

Other than those, i think your Rims are really nice as it sits! You have a tough choice on your hands!

Ronal Turbos can be bought all over the place, the cheapest I found was Style Dynamix..

cheers for all the opinions people, still not decided what to do but the majority on this post seem to say keep my original wheels (i knew i should have done a poll lol). As for people saying about buying speedlines, they are mint rims, but i would like to keep to 15" for handling and also there are a lot of nova's with speedlines on now!! My orignial plan was to have my current rims done in anthrecite, but after going to the pv show and seing that its pretty much this years craze, i am looking at a different finish if i do keep them.

i like the ronal turbos also, but if your going to keep your wheels you could get them done in white to be different or have them polished/diamond cut

2 month bump!!! but like stated ronal turbos look amazing but wont fit  !! so best option is to stay with your wheels or go for the compomotives...

MAKE THEM FIT! It is possible. Flare the arches out, have 5mm machined off the wheel, "tub" the inner arches, go rear discs and machine away the hubs, and move the wheel more in-bound. If you really want it, it CAN be done...

Back in 1998 I was told by EVERY person that I couldn't get 17" wheels on My nova with 205/40/17" tyres with a 80mm drop.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v126/RJM25R/428e8fc4.jpg

9X15" REARS AND 8X15" FRONTS. STILL RECKON RONALS WON'T FIT?

Breeny

YOUR RIGHT RICK.. K was the first to fit 18's, 19's and 20's.. The fact remains whether or not it would look any good.. IMO the arches look sh1te on that black one and would not suit Ollys car at all!

Next you'll be saying put M3 mirrors on! :P

^^^ i could have SWORN his car came with 18's on already.

Also, wasn't the 'Pinky' car done BEFORE his? On 18's.

ALSO, the statement should really read 'as documented in ruuuuude boy mags/chav cruise hot-spots' first. Rather than FACT first.

I defend my point, Breeny.... anything can be made to fit, thats all i was saying. Whether it looks good or not is down to the owner.....

I'm sure Ollster wouldn't be putting stupid widths on anyway to necessitate outer arch mods. Inner arch mods would be best, and then you can "tuck" the rim deeper inbound...... Thats what "fearless" did to my car to get it so low with the 17's on. Absolutely NO scrubbage wit 4 people in it....

IMO M3 mirrors (which again I had fitted in 1999 off a real m3 b4 u could buy them for ?25) are like speedlines/softstars. They are DEFINITELY an improvement over the standard part but everybody's done it.....

If I were building a nova, I'd put schmidts or ronals on DEFINITELY!

Or an 8x13"

wow, this post got brought up from the depths lol. I still am thinking about gettin them and as RJM25R says anything can be done if you put your mind to it, like turning this into a running car again lol
