Hi people,

I have just blown the bottom end in my nova 1.8 (mk1 cav 1.8 varajet II carb 1.2 nova box) after having it running and fully taxed MOT insured for an hour!!!!!!!!!!

Any way, how much roughly is it for a rebuild of the bottom end?

shells?
Pistons?
rings?
crank grind?

and anything else I can do while I'm in there?

I have seen the 2.0l up for sale on here and have enquired before anyone says to get a new motor thanks.

Any help is much appreciated!

No one got even a rough idea from rebuilding a different engine?!?

Of course I can get trade prices too!

it will take a little longer then 1hr 24mins to get a reply lol

prehaps ?5-600 including machining if you get trade prices etc

Id get ARP rod bolts
deseam+ shot peened rods

overbore +pistons and rings

block skimmed a bit

crank polished, unless it needs a grind. + obv shells

maybe blag a light+balance on the crank.

all depends how much you want to spend and what you can get. id call up engineering firms if i were you.

I would like to rebuild it to a reasonable spec without going too technical and crazy on money!

I could get a new motor (second hand) for a couple hundred (good one).

I could even get one that has cams in and has had a recent rebuild.

I will enquire about the one on sale section 2.0l with GTE head + cams etc.
