Differnece between GTE and GSI

What are the difference between the GTE and the GSI? I always thought the GTE was the more sought after of the two.

GTE made til 1990, facelifted nov came out late 1990 and was badged gsi.

different kits, and trim the main differences.

as the man says...
gsi is the top spec model for the 1990 onwards facelift model.

late spec gsi have better fuel/ignition system (dis)
also gte didn't come with 3 bar wheels as standard or electric windows

electric windows were an option on early gtes and standard later on i think, my h reg 1/8/90 had electric windows.

the interior is different such as the dash, and the door trims leccy windows 3 bar alloys as standard alough the GTE has more torque than the gsi and alough it states that the gsi is faster that isnt quite true!
the bodywork is aslo different (Facelift model) the sleeker lights and the bumpers are more rounded anything else my good man?

the gte and gsi engines are the same!!
the figures are different cause the early gte's the ones the fugures were done on had
no el
no sr
and steel wheels
this makes it faster off the line due to the less weight
but the gsi is faster top end cause it is more aerodinamic and weight make no differnce to the top speed

I've got original Vauxhall-Opel Brochure scans on there, including the GTE and GSi.

The GTE scan is from a 1988 Brochure (when the GTE was launched), and the GSi scan, is from a 1991 brochure.

Take a look, and the difference are obvious. They are on the same page as each other.
Click on "Model Guide", then "Sport Models", then form the drop-down menu, choose "GTE/GSi"....the scans are at the bottom of that page. Click on the thumb nail pics to see the full-size scans.
