Wires! where are the wires?

From what I can gather, there's supposed to be a red wire, a black wire, and a brown wire to connect to the iso plug (+ the arial and speaker wires). However, I have only got red and black (no brown) and they both seem to be direct live wires (not switched on or off by the ignition).

If I take an earth wire to a point on the bodywork then will that do?

Will it cause problems if I connect a constant 12v wire to the switched 12v terminal or should I not connect a wire at all? :?:

so yeah u should be able to take the earth off a point of the body

you could cut the red and black wires and connect them together as they come out the headunit and connect them to the red wire on the car leaving the black wire disconnected
