I have just bought a 32/34 weber carb and am wanting to fit it to the car. Has the adapter plates etc so it fits, but i cant get the old carb off. There are the 4 screws on top and two bolts that u can take off. apart fdrom these i cant see any other stuff to take off that will release the carb.
bought a haynes manual today, if anyone knows page numbers etc or who have done this job before please tell me :)
cheers

i managed to get the carb off. its weird now toh as i have an adapter plate so it will fit over the studs that hold the pierburg carb in place. But there are no stud holes on the weber 32/34 for the studs to go through, so they dont actually fit. will i need a new inlet manifold?
cheers
1300 inlet manifold I believe

Not unless you run a 1.2 or 1.3Head.
You need to take the studs out to fit the weber, then the adaptor bolts into the holes that theyre in, and the weber bolts to that.
Alan
you do learn something everyday...
didnt think the 32/34 fitted the 1.4 manifold...!

U can't just swap ur 1.4 manifold for a 1.3 item, u would have to swap the head aswell because of the different shaped ports (1.4 = square ports, 1.3 = rounded ports).
The 1.3 and 1.4 inlets have the same mounting points for the pierburg carb anyway.
When u remove the pierburg u should be left with 3 long studs sticking out the inlet.
U need to remove these then mount the weber adapter plate in there place.
The weber then fits to the adapter plate.

if aimed at me...yeah I know...just didnt know they fitted the 1400 manifolds also

hmmm ok then, by the looks of it those studs could just do with shortening so the adapter plate can bolt on to em and then the weber on to the plate.
easy job? lol

take them out , dont shoten them
tap with a big hammer on the top of the stud while twisting with a pair of mole grips , usually gets then out no fuss

yeah, makes sense though cause both manifolds have identical carb's, so they will have identical mountings.
To get those 3 rods out after u took the carb off, just unscrew them, without snapping them off. U need to use the thread to screw the new bolts in.
1300 and 1400 manifolds did not all have identical carbs, lol
anyway what was the point in saying that :?
they both had a pierburg 2e3. the tops of the manifold are the same. i have one of each in the garage and the bit the carb bolts to are identical.
i will dig out my instructions for fitting the carbs.
