Overheating

I got a 1.3 mk1 and the fan won't come on. i change the stat on the radiator but the fan still won't come on, however if you short the two wires on the stat together the fan works. I'm stumped!?!

hi mate i work in a garage in near yarmouth! it sounds like a dodgy rad fan switch! to me! is the rad getting to hot to touch around the switch??
anything you want help with i am happy to reply!

fitted a brand new fan stat already and still don't work

tried the fuse?

are the terminals good where it plugs in to they could be coroded and not makin good contact

if it works when you short the wires on the fan switch the fuse will be ok. either its a poor connection as epo said, or the brand new switch is faulty. fit new female spade connectors to the wires. I always do as a matter of course and have never had any problems, has often solved a problem without changing the switch.
