After trying to get hold of a 1.4sr enginer for many months i have decided to get a 1.3 as i can get it for ?50 plus my 1.2 engine is drinking more oil then petrol. What can i do to make a 1.3 soind and preform better? Whats the top speed in a 1.3?
you can put twin 40 carbs on the sr, you can make 1.3 sr's rapid acceleration but the top speed wont be great
Filter, exhaust (complete system & manifold), 32/34 or if you got a bit more cash T40s, cam... should see you a fair few extra horses
Stripping out the car (thus making it lighter) might shave a bit off your 0-60... and fitting bigger brakes would be handy too!!
Top speed in a 1.3 depends on the gearbox i guess, but somewhere about 100-120?
I'd deffo recommend stripping the rear out for a cheap mod, its suprising how much difference less weight makes. And it costs nothing.
But the mods suggested will give you best performance.
this is a good example

The way to get most out of your 1.3:
Weber twin 40's (delorto's are ok too, wouldn't buy solex though)
Get the head done (ported, polished, skimmed etc.)
Get a cam kit of kent like the ast2 and fit the high lift vavles to go with it.
Got bout 40% power gain and sound is something you only beleive when you hear it!!!!
