Took my car to get setup after having the carbs rebuilt, got 90bhp on the first run, only managed to get 5bhp more after that :x I'm quite pleased with 95bhp from a 1.3. I've got a feeling that a few things are holding it back though :| On the exhaust side I have only got 4-1 manifold and back box. Would a full system see it to over the 100bhp mark?

Engine is:
1360cc SR engine
Dellorto twin 40's
Piper 285 Cam with Vernieer Pully
Matched Inlet manifold for carbs to head
Gasflowed Head
3 angle valve seats
Skimmed to compression ratio of 11- 1
New +1mm oversized pistons with rebore
New Rings, Shells, etc
Reground Crank

Still not idleing right and its a bugger to start too, thinking it might be coil related the starting though as the strength of the spark seems intermintant :|

95bhp-1.3 8) I like it! A full sytem might just push it over the 100 mark, they usually add about 5-8bhp dont they?

It should see you over the 100bhp mark, which is nice for a 1.3.
Well done Skoob. :+:

only if you fit a max power sticker along with it

better than that some blue HT leads?

sorry skoob, my comments was regards the zorst and 6-8bhp gain  .

I have run mine with certain plugs and special leads etc, took em off and ran with standards plugs and leads (i do all time now) and found no power gain at all.

what size choke's are in the carb's?? what torque are you making?

95bhp is good, it will be better on the road than it is on paper, mine is.

heres my spec:

1.4nv bottom end (about shagged)
c14se head, matched to 1300 inlet manifold + a bit of gasflowing
t40 dell'orto's (30mm chokes + 50m trumpets)

92 bhp @ 5880rpm
90 ft/lbs @ 4800rpm

1/4 mile - 16.0 @ 85mph

are they flywheel figures or the wheels?, dunno what sized jets, he tried a few. I'm running very short trumpets, soon to be K&N filters
oh its got 87Ibs/ft @4613rpm

benji that shows 92bhp @ fly and 74bhp @ wheels

there should be more you can get out of that imo

i had 86bhp at the fly without T40s!

your running very good times tho, my times were shit when i ran wasnt running right at all :)

Mate, it aint that bad Jesus...cheer up

95bhp is respectable...after all it is only a 1.36 L

Benji thats a well good 1/4 mile time mate...

Bloke on Mig with a Cav Turbo did a 15.4 IIRC and that was his best

Nova's Rule...haha

Will...so Skoob got 9bhp more with T40s?

how much are you 'supposed' to gain with T40s on a 1.3 then ?

I'd highly recommend some sort of scoop for the bonnet - Something subtle like the Isuzu Trooper one (like Dans for example).
I noticed a big difference on my old T40 after I fitted a scooby scoop over the air filter.

I know that it won't give you any more power on a Rolling Road, but you'll notice the difference on the real roads.

when i fitted the 40's to the standard engine i got 80bhp, a mighty 8bhp over standard. the sri head gave 12 bhp.

if you already have a big cam and a good head the 40's will give bigger gains

the point to make is you add twin 40s to improve petrol / air mixture flow rate.

you go from a single (or twin draught) carb, to in simple terms a carburettor for each cylinder. so multiplying the throttle body surface area by upto 4 times as much, if that makes sense?

so bolting 40s on to a standard engine, yes will gain bhp, but when you have restrictive things such as standard exhaust systems, and restrictive heads, you wont see as greater gains as you could expect.

i run 40s, a b+ head, and full s/s system and 4 branch manifold, i thought i had maximum gains, i was running an incorrect inlet manifold that was matched as near as dammit to my head, but buying the correct manifold with shape ports and throats, it found me another 15 BHP - just from an INLET MANIFOLD - thats ludicrous and illustrates my point.

uprating the carburation - great. but if you havent freed up the flow through all the other components, dont expect big gains.

Will, where did you get your bhp figure from? Was it at Velos?

I'm hopeing to see good figures from the 1.3 Steven Gaults building me! I'd say it should hit 100bhp, fingers crossed!

Should a 100bhp 1.3 perform better than a 100bhp GSI engine?

i would have thought so mate as benji's was much faster down the strip then mine..
at the mo my 1.6 standard gsi lump(not had it r/r'd)
will only get a 16.8/16.7 at it's best down the pod,now i carnt member what benji did but it was faster then that, benij what was it..plus your engine sonded really gruntty and evil down the strip on sunday, nice

cheers mate. i did a 16.0 at the shoot out and a 16.1 on sunday.

i might be going down again this sunday for the classic f**d show, if i do it will get a propper stripping, 1 seat and every thing, just to get into the 15's. i don't care if it's cheating. cp sugessted kicking out the back window on sunday :D

I'll be running the 16" speedlines.. Steven suggested running 13's, but smallest i can go is 15's with my brakes! lol

Running 13's with a stripped interior it would be Lightning!
