can anyone tell me which engined novas have revlimiters? im off to the scrappy to find one unless i can take it off my 1.2i and put it into my 1.3 carb. can i take the revlimiter off the spi engined nova and just stick in my carbed sr? or do the injection and carb rev limiters work in a completley different way? also where abouts in the car can i find the rev limiter? cheers.

Whats the benefit of having a rev limiter, I don't actually know, and if the answer is as to not damage the engine, your stupid if you dont know when to change. When the Rev Limiter approaches 6,700rpm + and your engine is screaming at you!

rev limiter is part of the engine management

u cant just take it off

u need to buy a standalone limiter to fit to a carbed engine

hmm so a rev limiter is of no use to anyone, and people who need them are stupid and cant drive??

hmm go tell every motorsport competitor that then, even mr stupidmacher, as im sure even his ferrari has a limiter lol

they give you that reassuring "reminder" if your getting a bit keen during track days or 1/4 miling etc

an aftermarket one will be approx ?60 for a basic one

Limiters are the future

It gives you a peice of mind if you take it to far that your not going to blow your baby apart

Oh rite, the way i see it is that if i blow my engine up uit will be cheaper to jus get another one as oppose to buying a rev limiter...

so what happens when you miss a gear an nail the throttle when racing, i think most people would have experienced that before it happens. And on a tuned engine the revs can rise quite fast an before you no its 9000rpm, or is that just me?

I've done that, doesnt sound nice, but then you know not to do it again, or be more careful if it was an accident.

Get an Omex Clubman Rev limiter - they're about ?90. You can set the limit to what ya like! And change the cut of degree. Bought one for my GTE and then found out I already had one built in! LOL

i have done in a 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.6, wth no limiters, over reving made them pop, and i also done in a 1.2i, 1.6 gte, with bouncing off the limiter, the 2.0 is proving hard to do.

but a limiter makes it last longer!! and i now dont rev to the limiter much in the 2.0.

bow tem engines  up:)!!

I have a OMEX clubman limiter on my rally Nova. Its saved me an expensive rebuild on many occations.

Believe me when your out in the forest or even on tarmac rallies there is so much noise and bouncing around it is easy to over rev the engine. Plus when your up against the clock you feel if can just hang on to those revs a little longer without a gear change you may catch the man infront and finish in a better position.

If you want a limiter the OMEX clubman is ?50-60 from Rally Design.

had a opel manta! missed a gear on a 1/4 mile strip! put one piston through the block! broke 3 rockers etc! weren`t cheap i can tell you that! even working in the trade it cost me an arm and a leg! done the same thing to my new nova, had it 4 months spent around 7o0 squid on proper engine mods then knocked the bottom end out!

a good web site is www.motorsportdirect.co.uk! if you email the bloke he should have one! thats were i brought mine! just connect it to ever side on the coil and a way you go! i brought a adjustable one from 4k revs to 9k revs for 3o squid! bargin!

i got mine from there. its playing up at the mo cos ive got it from an ignition live from the key and not the coil so it wont start with the limmeter connected. just not got round to re wiring it yet.
they are an absolute must if you intend to drive the car properly as you will deffo rev it too high when playing and you will hardly even notice it untill a rod ends up on ure lap. lol

Rev limiters also enable full throttle gear changes! :D
