Right, before I start, I just want to say that I'm not the sort of person that bullsh1ts, so read this and see what you think...

Can you fit a V8 into a Nova? My brother has a Corvette Stingray with a 5.0 V8 in it. Trouble is, it's not a genuine corvette engine, so he's getting it replaced with one. It's producing around 250BHP at the wheels and is an awesome car :D I've seen a V8 in an MX5 (yes, honestly) and there not exactly massive cars, so do you think you could squeeze one into the Nova?

I doubt very much that I would do it myself -- unless loads of money came my way :) But whilst it was on my mind, I thought I'd ask you guys to see how realistic an idea it would be.

Cheers, Jim.

I know loads of strengthening would need to be done to the car, but could you physically fit the engine in? I like the idea of a rear whel drive V8 though :D

I think the only way it could be done would be mid engined, rear wheel drive.

It would prob be best to designa space frame chassis & put the shell over the top of this, it would be a monster, but it would be very expensive to make, perhaps it would be better buying an astra, or cav?

A friend of mine has made a space frame for his fiesta hill climb car, nearly 300bhp out of a 2.1 pinto engine, its a mad little car, yours for 3500!

I know this wont be liked, but i recon it would go well in a MK2 Escort, in the front, i know u can fit bit engines in them, and they are great fun!

Hope this helps.

Mark.

Well....there's Reliant Kitten (4-wheeled version of the Robin), with a V8 in....used for drag-racing, so one would fit in a Nova no probs!

Ok.....not exactly as easy as that.......the Kitten (as do most other dragsters), only use the body shell of the donor vehicle, which is attached to a custom built tubular or box-section chassis.

Buy a copy of Street Machine some time.....you'll see what I mean....some truly mental cars in there!

Peeps have also done minis with V8's, and loads of Moggy Minors. The old Ford Pops aren't exactly huge either, but they're the most common hot-rod....99% of which use V8's

Only problem....mint in a straight line......don't even think about corners though!
Best bet would be a Rover 3.5 V8, 'cos they're all aluminium, and weight the same as some 2 litre engines!

Anyone see that Opel GT at Billing? It looked like this:

It's only about the size of a Nova, but this one had a 427 V8 in it! That's 427 cubic inch by the way, which is just under 7...yes, SEVEN litres!

MKII Nova Brochure scans to be added to www.novabug.co.uk soon!
